Hey Guys!
Irene and I will be doing a Buddy Read of A Game of Thrones. We will begin discussing tomorrow. Feel free to read along with us and join in the discussion :-D

Morgan (morgzsydney) | 28 comments I literally just finished it an hour ago! You guys will love it!

message 3: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I'm really excited to read it...I watched the show and I loved it! I hope you'll discuss with us once we get started

Irene (raenne) Morgan wrote: "I literally just finished it an hour ago! You guys will love it!"

I really hope so! It's one of the books I've been pushing. I'm not sure it's my kind of book, you know? I have really high expectations for it.
And yes, feel free to discuss it with us =)

message 5: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments Irene, were you able to start reading yesterday?

message 6: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) No, I just read it now =)
I'm a BIG wolf lover, so I'm in love with this book now!! Ahaha :)
I like the writing already and I definetely see potential for this story, I mean... I started sitting in the living room, but had to go to my room to read! I couldn't really concentrate. Yeah, I'm very excited to read more now!!

message 8: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I was worried that I would have a hard time with it, because I don't really read fantasy, but I actually enjoyed it! I'm really excited too :-)

message 9: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I've read two more chapters (the last chapter was Daenerys). And I have to ask: where's the fantasy element? :D I like the introduction, it's not as boring as I usually think introductions are.
How much have you read?
I will read one more chapter tonight, maybe even more. Let's see how much I'll like it ;)

message 10: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I just did my reading. I read until the chapter right after Daenerys, it's Eddard.
The only thing that's made me think "fantasy" so far is the "other" that killed the knight in the prologue.
So far I'm liking it :-)

message 11: by Rebecka (new)

Rebecka Oh, I loved this book. After I read the first I had to run out and get the rest. There's more fantasy later, but it's not overrun with it I guess

message 12: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) SORRY I'm so slow! :(
I just read Jon and the next. Can't remember what chapter it is :) So far I'm bored :/ But I like Jon! :D

message 13: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas I loved this book and I can't wait to read the next one. It has a L.O.T.R feel without the songs and poetry. lol

I love the characters and the story. Only G.R.R. Martin could come up with an epic plot about the fight for a crown and mix it with zombies. That's so cool.

Definitely the fantasy genre for me.

I'll be reading the second, as soon of the TV series comes out. I like watching and reading them at the same time :)

message 14: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments @Irene:
Catelyn? I've started Arrya. I like it, but I can understand why you're bored. I think once we get further in, it'll get better. I like Jon too...I think I may like Tyrion as well :-)

@Karina-Lady Hawk:
I usally like to read the book before seeing the show/movie. But I'm super excited for the show!!

message 15: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Yes, Catelyn. I will catch up with you today :-)

message 16: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments Ok, what did you think about Catelyn's chapter? I thought(view spoiler)

message 17: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Yes, it ya sad, but at the same time I liked it. It gave her some edge if you can say that. I have a feeling she'll turn out as a complex character that I'll love :-)

message 18: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Okay, I read about Arya now and am about to start the Bran chapter :) How about we read 4-5 chapters today? Is that okay with you? :)

message 19: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I think Catelyn will be a complex character too. Reading 4 or 5 chapters is fine with me :-)

message 20: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I have lost count of the chapters, but the next chapter is called Sansa and I will probably read that and one more before going to sleep.

(view spoiler)

message 21: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I'm not quite at Sansa yet, but I plan to read more later.

(view spoiler)

Is the book getting more interesting to you?

message 22: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Yes, it's definetely getting better. Eating my breakfast now, thinking that I might have time to read in school, yay.
I love Arya. She's my fav. Followed by Jon and Catelyn.

message 23: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I like Arya and Jon too...and maybe Tyrion? He seems like an interesting character

message 24: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) What chapter are you at? I'm at Jon's chapter, pg 171 in the Danish ebook.

message 25: by Tammy (last edited Mar 19, 2012 10:03PM) (new)

Tammy | 291 comments oh sorry I didn't see your post until now :-)
I'm on page 153, its an Eddard chapter in the paperback version. I plan to read before I go to bed in a bit.

(view spoiler)

message 26: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments In my copy Jon's chapter starts on page 176 so our page numbers aren't too different

message 27: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Oh, that's good! :)
Yeah I like the wolves too *heart*

Have to admit though, this is not a good book to me :/

message 28: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I don't mean to offend you or anything, but how can you find this book interesting? I'm so incredibly bored! The only reason I haven't given up yet is because of you and because it's on my "must read in 2012" list. Sorry haha :)

message 29: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I'm not offended. Everyone likes different things. Honestly, this isn't the type of book that will keep me up late at night because I can't put it down-but I do find it interesting. If you don't want to keep reading please don't feel obligated because of me. Or maybe take a break? :-)

I'm thinking that the further we go, the action will pick up

message 30: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) No, it's okay. I can do this! Haha ;) I read two more chapters today :)
I just want it to be over quickly haha :)

I might be dumb, but what is it really about? What's the storyline? I'm so confused lol

message 31: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments lol, I don't think I'd know exactly what the plot was if I hadn't seen the show. And even though I've seen the show I'm still unclear on some things.

I'm pretty sure the storyline/plot is basically that everyone wants to be king, so its like a fight for the throne.

I'm really interested in seeing if your mind changes once we finish the book :-)

message 32: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Hmm I just read the Tyrion chapter (view spoiler)

message 33: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments I left off at Tyrion's chapter, but I plan to start reading in a bit. I'll read your spoiler when I finish the chapter :)

message 34: by Irene (last edited Mar 22, 2012 12:06PM) (new)

Irene (raenne) Page 265, YAY! About to read the Eddard chapter. It's between Jon and Catelyn
-It would be so much easier if the chapters had numbers, right?! :D

Also, I really can't. Life's too short for bad books, right? I'll probably continue it sometime sooner or later, but right now I need to read something else. I hope it's okay with you! And who knows, maybe tomorrow I feel like continuing it again haha (:

message 35: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments It's okay!! Take a little break from it. Honestly it feels like I've been forcing myself to read. I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for it or what.

message 36: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Oh, so you're kinda bored too?

message 37: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments Yeah, lol. I saw in the buddy reads discussion that you're thinking of reading 50 Shades of Grey--its so good! I didn't think I was gonna like it, but I did. I don't think you'll find it boring :)

It's my first time with a book of that genre, so I'm pretty excited! :D
I hope you and I can read another book soon. I've got some to review, but I should have time in about two weeks if you're up for it? (:

message 39: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 291 comments It was my first book in that genre as well and it made me curious about what other books I'd been missing out on. I'd like to read another book with you-hopefully one we both like a lot more :)

message 40: by Duks (new)

Duks (cnduks_) | 1836 comments It's a great series! But the books are just too long!!!
