Raphia Yeah, I read it two years ago in the 8Th grade.

Rachael I read it last summer, not for school though. We are reading the play for school though, which is interesting.

message 203: by Donna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Donna This was not required reading in high school, but when I was 14 and in grade nine, I wandered into my favorite bookstore....and into Anne Frank's story....it changed everything I thought and felt about in the world. I am 50 yrs old now....and I can still remember exactly how I felt when I first discovered her book....I cried then, and whenever I hear or read someone else has found this book...I am still moved. This is a good book, a necessary book for those growing up...it lets the reader in on what someone else's life was like...Well, anyway, I really enjoyed this book....and still do.

message 204: by Sara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sara we read bits and pieces of it this year in english to see the conflict Anne had with in herself. Read it before though, it gave me a total different look on life and the holocaust.

message 205: by Cassie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cassie I read it during school! Last year.. It was an awsome book, intell the end.

message 206: by Daniel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daniel Hutton Sure did. Read in my 8th grade English class, but it was a condensed version. I fell in love with Anne Frank from that moment on.

message 207: by Julia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Julia Valder I read this in school but not for school. It's a very poignant reminder for us. I also visited Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam. I cried when I read it, when I visited the house and when I still read it.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen I never read this in school. That happened later.

message 209: by Bonnie (last edited Sep 19, 2012 08:13AM) (new) - added it

Bonnie I read when in high school but not for shcool. Reread years later when I visited her house in Amsterdam--really amazing what they went through and seeing where they actually lived made it all the more interesting.

message 210: by Carey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carey Shea I read it in school and loved it. I also visited the house in Amsterdam. Very interesting.

message 211: by Lynda (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynda yes read this for school - and read it later as an adult. My daughters read this book too and this made for some good talks. What young girl cannot imagine being Anne with no one to share things with other than "Dear Kitty"

message 212: by Paying (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paying I read it for school yes and I'm glad I did. Very good documentary... I think I was attached to it because of the fact that it was of a girl growing up as a teen, at the same time I was a teen :)

message 213: by McKent (new) - rated it 3 stars

McKent Peligrino yeah for literature

message 214: by Maggie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maggie Thom It wasn't assigned at school, I read it on my own as a teenager. It was the first story about true life that I'd ever read. Wow did it open my eyes and got me hooked on true life stories. It is one of those books that I read once, don't think I could again but will never forget it.

message 215: by Helen (new) - rated it 5 stars

Helen Goltz I didn't have it assigned at school, but read it and loved it. When I went overseas I went to Anne's hideout. So amazing to be there. It's a timeless book, don't you think?

message 216: by McKent (new) - rated it 3 stars

McKent Peligrino yeah! you bet!

message 217: by Robynn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Robynn The books good but its a little slow and you kind of have to have a patients because its slow but very sad.

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

message 219: by Amanda (new) - rated it 4 stars

Amanda Emilia Jane * THE OFFICE:) * wrote: "I read this for school. Any others?"

Yeah I had it. Honestly I was very moved.
It was the story behind the diary that got me crying.

message 220: by Ji Soo (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ji Soo I did it for school, but I was one of the few that liked it(:

message 221: by Carey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carey Shea I read it for school and I am sure glad I did. The book was mesmerizing. It was the first book I read about the jews during WWII. I could not believe what that poor girl and the people she lived with went through.

message 222: by Sophie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sophie I read this for school in Grade 4 - it really affected my perspective of WWII and jolted me into the realisation that this was REAL and some people lived with it everyday. Before I read the book, it was mainly "Yeah, I've heard about it, but I'm kind of impartial to it." By the time I finished the diary, I was struck by the horror that this happened to this poor little girl, not much older than myself. It really put things into perspective for me.

message 223: by Guin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Guin I read this book on my own.

Eugenia (Genie In A Book) I read it before myself, then again for school

message 225: by Jeremy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jeremy I didn't read this for school because I cut school every chance I got. I read this when I was twenty one or twenty two years old, meaning a while ago and I felt sad for , Did you hear that ladies (a man) felt sad for , I almost cried and I feel deeply saddened that there were and are bad people in the world still . Can you imagine her writing a few sentences at a time hiding while thinking the worst is going to happen to her and it truly is a book that everyone with a heart should read ....

message 226: by Jeremy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jeremy David wrote: "I read this book in high school = hated it.
I read this book in college = tolerated it.
I read this book on the plane to Amsterdam where I was going to tour the house = LOVED IT.

Such a powerful ..."

smart to reread it three times !!!

message 227: by Paula (new) - rated it 3 stars

Paula Difficult read in high school mainly because Anne is so typically preteen girl in the midst of horror. I do not like as literature but as history it is irrefutable truth.

message 228: by Klara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Klara Woodson There was a page of this book on my Anthology Book for my Literature class, but they never asked us to read it. I mean, they never gave to us as an assignment. Being in Italy, we knew Anne Frank, and probably felt closer to her, but our teachers wanted us to read Primo Levi's 'Se Questo è un Uomo' (If This is a Man) that talked about the author's own experience in a concentration camp. But all the kids in my class read Anne's diary, for our own pleasure, and most teachers recommended it, although they didn't check if we actaully did.

message 229: by Hannah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hannah i had to read it for 8th grade and do a report on it. i really liked it

Aisha I read this for my 6th grade social studies class, and I had to watch the movie

Uguru-Okorie Joseph I didn't read it for school, but i got her name online through some of her quotes and then I decided to know more about her. Her story was really touching, when i read it and it taught me lots of lessons.

message 234: by Emma (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emma I wasn't assigned to read it, but it was one of the books that I could have read to satisfy one of the requirements in school, so I read it.

message 235: by CC (last edited Feb 01, 2013 06:07PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

CC I remember that I started reading it just a few weeks before my eighth grade teacher assigned it for class. So, actually, it kind of happened both ways for me.

message 236: by Sharon (new) - rated it 5 stars
