I read this book last weekend and really enjoyed it. I thought the plot was pretty well done... and for goodness sakes this guy won the Caldecott!
At first I was fishy about 'a novel in pictures', but there was enough tied up in the word side of it that it was not confusing to read at all. In fact, some times the drawings told more than the words. It was quite ingenious saying as a lot of the plot was tied around Deaf culture. A lot of history twisting took place, but at least he came clean with this in the back of the book. The New York City model that was featured near the end was AMAZING!
