Deviki | 207 comments Hey you guys, long time no see (LOL)
Just wondering if any of you guys have reading blocks, as in you have this book you want to read, yet it just so difficult to concentrate, its not a bad book in fact its a good book, but you just can't focus or lose your concentration pretty quick over the stupidest things.
Its really bugging me, last year i always read 4-5 books a month nothing could distract me, but now i could hardly finish one book, weirdly i miss my reading time .........
why is this happening :(
help ?

Probably something bothering your mind. Work? Studies? Sometimes it's just mood. If you can't concentrate on one book, put it down and pick up another one. See if that works.

Syahira | 752 comments find your comfort genre. Mine is PNR. I usually switch to heavier or lighter genres but in the end, if I'm bored enough to get in the mood, I went back to some of my old reads that I like.

Ulya A.K | 263 comments opps.. only saw this thread today.. hehe.. just wanted to put in my 2cents.. i had that the reading block period pretty much the whole of last year, and shortly before that. hence the drop in my number of books read. mainly coz of work stress. i think i started what, 8-9 books & finished none.. it helps after i changed job but took awhile to get back in the saddle.

cant really do much about it though, but just keep picking up a book to read & hopefully you'll manage to finish it.. haha.. but dont beat yourself up too much about it. no one is keeping tabs.. ^_^

Juwita | 98 comments oh my. i too just finished a book that i felt was taking up too much of my time. i started reading it in june. then in ramadhan i stopped. i was actually left with only three chapters to go but when i picked up the book again, it was so hard for me to concentrate! it was a laborious effort, and finally i finished the book on saturday. truly a huge reading block! such a shame too, as it was a really good book....

CekMoNSter | 92 comments I get that too sometimes..Reading block, when you suddenly halt all your read..Normally the symptoms start when you just finished a book and couldn`t find anything else to trigger your reading spirit..or when you started to read bunch of books at the same time, and didn`t know which one to finish first..Or possibly because of the mood..God, I hate to depend on that thing..

For me, the cure would be reading something else(might induce to the second symptom though)..I usually had something light like YA or something for some sips before the main course..In some of my chronic case, I would embarrassingly read blurb or spoiler(Just to uplift the feeling@spirit back as to why I started to read the book in the first place.A quite spiritual method if you ask me) But that`s a bad habit, I know..

Reading block is a major readers disease, along with not enough time to read:)

Me too right now with my very hectic working life, reading hardcore books is starting to put me off. I used to love reading books with really good plots and crimes. But right now i can only read chic lit and actually finish it rather than putting it off. Perhaps you could read some other genre.

Well put !!! yep your right i did try reading different genre books this time around and i find myself reading the book with interest. I guess mine could be associated with my work stress. :P i wish to go for another book sale trip soon :P hope that brings back my reading spirit

Glad you got someone to lift that reading spirit again :P

Never notice it (reading block) in my reading habit before, but I do have times when I cannot pick any book to read at all - during first trimester and early second trimester of pregnancy.
