t As it seems, “Runaway" by Alice Munro is a compelling set of short stories which I believe that would teach me something at the end of it. I chose this book because I wanted to feel the sadness of it and balance it with the reality. The Author, Alice Munro is a well known and very much appreciated woman in Canada. After a quick research of her biography, I found many more admirations towards her. Other readers liked her because she describes the character so well which at the end she leaves the reader to decide and fill in some gaps. Those reviews and comments of others made me more interested in reading this book. The following quote was a comment on Alice Munro's work of literature “The mystery arises from the way that she presents each story-just a few words at the outset, perfectly descriptive, but never overly so”. I always loved reading short stories because I think that short stories are quite fascinating than just an ordinary fiction. My last read short story was “The curious case of Benjamin Button” which now I am so glad that I read it and enjoyed it to the fullest. After I've read the first few pages of “Runaway”, I was flabbergasted of her writing style. Even though I had to read it twice due to the fact that it had many anecdotes from the past, I could genuinely say that I enjoyed it. The cover was not very much appealing to me, but it gave me a sense of the context of the text. The image I saw on the cover was some green leaves on a white background. This was a complete figurative image and I spent few moments looking at it to find the meaning behind it. I hope to figure out that "mystery behind the image" while reading this book. I am so eager to find out what kind of exciting things would happen in the latter part of these stories. I bet that I would enjoy this book and won’t regret reading it!
