Hello everyone, I'm Daven Anderson, author of "Vampire Syndrome", released by PDMI Publishing.

Kindle version (YA)

Jack Wendell, a 19-year-old Special Olympics champion born with Down Syndrome, is bitten by a rabid vampire and subsequently transforms.

His problem: The vampires' law-enforcing Venators hunt down and terminate special-needs vampires upon discovering their existence.

Jack wins over a powerful ally. Lilith, president of the vampires, hides Jack from the Venators. However, she cannot stop her husband Damien (the chief Venator) from targeting Jack.

Even if Damien and Lilith can settle their differences, can they save Jack from the space alien vampires who want to abduct him?

Eloise Kindred | 6 comments Hi everyone! My name is Eloise Kindred. I live in Leicester, England and I'm the author of an adult horror novel called "Hell's Paradise" which I've self published for Kindle and Kobo.
I'm a huge fan of everything horror - vampires, werewolves, witches etc. Particularly love the works of Stephen King.
Looking forward to chatting with you all on here xx

message 305: by Christopher Ruz (new)

Christopher Ruz | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm an Aussie horror lover, addicted to Stephen King and Richard Matheson since I was about seven years old. I'm also the author of the ongoing horror serial Rust: Rust Season 1, Episode 1 by Christopher Ruz which I'd really like to hand out to more readers. Glad to find such a big group of similarly minded folk!

message 306: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Hi everyone, I'm chuckles. I'm a rabid book reader and reviewer. I read Indie and mainstream authors in my favourite genres-urban fantasy, horror, dystopian and paranormal. If I like the sound of the plot, I'll try it! I like fast paced action packed UF, gory/slasher horror, dystopian with apocalypses/plagues/Hunger Games style societies. Not keen on gothic, historical, slow plot and books overloaded with sex.

I like to do my bit to promote Indie authors on my group and blog, and I look forward to getting a Kobo in a couple of weeks for my birthday so I can read even more!

message 310: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everyone,
I have just joined this group and just thought I'd introduce myself. most people just call me Shay since SKN is a little awkward to use. I write mostly paranormal but I am attempting to expand to full out horror.
I love all horror and paranormal books. Not to be cliché but Stephen King would be my favorite. Working on reading even more by him then I already have.

message 311: by Kelli (new)

Kelli (malachitemoon) | 8 comments Hi! I'm new here, not to Goodreads, but to this group. I read a lot of books and I love to be the first to read something new and fresh and give honest and reasonable feedback. :) I write too, although its mostly articles and what not for several content mills at present.

My passion is horror. I just can't get enough of it. I want to be scared and I challenge people to truly horrify me. :)

I would love to be a beta reader for any horror writers out there who are willing and interested. But know that I firmly believe that horror authors need to take it a step beyond what the reader expects. That's what makes for truly great horror novels, in my humble opinion.

I also hope to write something that lives up to my own very high specifications or at least finish one of my multiple just for fun projects. I would love to play and bounce ideas off of other horror aficionados.

I also sincerely hope my super long post doesn't scare anyone away (pun intended). :)

William Massa | 4 comments Hi everyone! My name is Bill, I'm a screenwriter (worked and sold a bunch of projects but my produced credit is 'Return to House on Haunted Hill') and I just released my first horror-thriller Fear the Light: Who Murdered Dracula? on Amazon. (Goodreads giveaway happening at the moment - check it out). I also write book reviews for horrornovelreviews and plan on reposting some of those reviews on Goodreads soon. My influences are the giants of the field, Koontz, King, McCammon, Barker and Rice and hope to fuse action-adventure with horror in my upcoming work.

message 320: by Harry (new)

Harry Nelson | 4 comments I'm Harry and I'm a writer. I got hooked after my brother told me some hair raising stories about Lucid Dreaming. I'm looking for beta readers for my book titled 'In the Lucid Dream Future.' It's about a garage band kid who discovers that one of his songs has been stollen and turned into a satanic death-metal version. His rage drives him to insanity, but through tragedy he uncovers spectacular powers as he is drawn into the dangerous world of lucid dreaming.

message 325: by Paul (new)

Paul Roberts Greetings everyone,

I joined Goodreads last summer as a way to keep track of the titles I wanted to read - the majority of them horror. I became obsessed with horror as young kid. My Dad would take me to the movies where I was entertained by frightening films. I spent Saturdays in the local library pouring over books on film monsters. Horror led to a world of all things dark, and I was hooked early.

I started with King (Christine) and went through Barker (The Damnation Game) and Rice (IWTV). Today I rank among my favourite writers: T.E.D. Klein, John Langan, Cormac McCarthy, Livia Llewellyn, Hubert Selby Jr., Laird Barron, Bret Easton Ellis and Richard Gavin.

I work in the film industry in Toronto (and have worked crew on two horror features). Recently I sold a screenplay and released two horror novelettes via. Kindle. Very happy to see such a healthy group of horror fans here. It makes the winter months a touch warmer.

Latashia Figueroa (goodreadscomlatashiafigueroa) | 12 comments Hi Paul,

message 327: by Yawatta (new)

Yawatta Hosby (agathachristiefan) Hi I'm Yawatta Hosby. I'm a huge fan of horror movies. For the longest time, I was afraid to read scary stories because there'd be no creepy music in the background to warn you a scary part was coming. Two years ago, I began a reading challenge and became interested in the horror genre. I got over my fear :) I haven't been able to stop reading these type of books ever since. My favorite type of horror--the stuff that can happen in real life (serial killers, psychological thrillers, etc)

C. Cales (scarybob) | 12 comments If we met at a party I would introduce myself as ScaryBob, but you won't find that name in the authors section. I'm C. Robert Cales, I write paranormal thrillers.

Someone asked for a character interview and I volunteered one of my characters, although I wasn't sure they knew what they were getting into. Much to my surprise, the journalist from the novel I'm currently writing stepped forward and offered to be the interviewer. Who am I to argue with that kind of initiative.

The interviewee: Carlos Ramirez, drug lord, child molester, murderer and that's just the tip of the iceberg…

Chilling.

Kyle Scott | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My names Kyle Scott. I'm a horror author with a debut anthology under my belt, Consumed: Volume 1, and something of a genre obsessive.
Aside from writing horror fiction, I run my own blog - reviewing and editorialize on all thing horror - called The Horror Hotel.
Looking forward to getting to know the group. I always find it extremely inspiring discussing the genre with like-minded fans, as there are few communities more caring, intelligent and passionate than those which horror inspires.
Now for some influences...
From a literary standpoint, my work is my play. The authors I read are both a source of inspiration and a passion that I really can't get enough of.
I could list many, but to give an idea of my influences, here's a small list :
Richard Laymon
Brian Keene
Bentley Little
Jeff Strand
Blake Crouch
Jack Kilborn
Edward Lee
Joe Hill
J F Gonzalez
Very keen to meet and swap reviews with like-minded readers.
Feel free to contact me anytime.
It's a pleasure to meet you all.

Daniel Barnett | 1 comments Hi everyone,

I'm Daniel Barnett, and I write horror. My novel, The Safe, is almost finished being looked at by an editor, and I plan on having it out by the end of the year.

In the meantime, I plan on re-releasing a short story that was published last year to practice with the formatting and whatnot of Kindle, along with an excerpt of The Safe. Pretty excited!

Nice to meet you all!

message 338: by Norman (new)

Norman Crane (normancrane) | 3 comments Hello,

My reading tastes (a.k.a. urges) are all over the place, but I love me some horror, too. Lately I've been especially vulnerable to books and stories that mix nostalgia with scary, or that soak the "innocent small town" trope in some sinister or bizarre David-Lynchian soup. I'm a fan of the unexplainable. I don't particularly like puzzles, just some words to make me feel: scared, freaked out, happy ever after...

message 339: by Cyndel (new)

Cyndel Schafer Hi everyone my man is Cyn. I am in love with everything paranormal and any thing that will keep me on my toes. Look foward to meeting everyone. Feel free to stop by and add me. Look foward to finding new books to add to my collection.

message 340: by Enoch (new)

Enoch St John (enochstjohn) | 6 comments Hi everyone. New author with an appreciation of the dark.
My debut novel is dark fiction (some might call it horror), and I am working on more serial/series-type stuff that would also be considered dark.

I mostly indulge in philosophy as far as reading tastes go.

Good to be here.

Barbara Tatum | 1 comments Hi, name is Barbara and I write. I almost hate to put a genre because so many times people box themselves in with genres as readers and writers, but I do love paranormal. I just released a book on Kindle. It's called Tween, Twixt, Twisted. And, though I've been writing for 35 years, this is my first real move to put it out their publicly, so I'll probably have a lot of questions for y'all because I am discovering how ignorant I am about that whole part of the process!Tween, Twixt, Twisted: An Underneath Novel
