I gave it a 3. Not my favorite book ever, and I probably wouldn't recommend it. I really seemed to struggle reading it, and I can't really figure out why. I've even gone back and have reread some of the hard sections, and it hasn't really grabbed me any more.
Sorry to those of you who loved it.

Julie | 168 comments I also gave it a 4.5. I finished it super fast and then passed it along to a friend (the lovely Suzanne- some of you may know her :) )

I am curious about Bronsky's other book. Has anyone read it? Is it written in a similar style (first person with mental issues)?

Alisha Rivera | 145 comments I struggled with this one for some reason. I've tried to figure out why. I wasn't disinterested in the story. Ross was a piece of work- I continued to guess what her next antic would be.

So, I think the problem for me was that it didn't really flow for me. My guess is that it is because it was translated and I have no experience with translated works. It's hard to put my finger on it, but it just felt jarring.

I give it a 4, and have decided i need more translated readings!

Meghan | 115 comments After I read this one I downloaded her other one...similar kind of hard knock story. I thought it was good though..worth a read.

Alisha Rivera | 145 comments Emily- I think jumpy is the right word. So although I liked the story, the jumpiness kept me from actually enjoying reading through it. Don't know if I'm articulating well. Oh well.

message 8: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 134 comments I GAVE IT A 4 BECAUSE I FELT THAT THE ENDING WAS SO CONTRIVED AND ANTICLIMACTIC. REALLY?

I gave it a 4.25. My whole obnoxious review is on my book blog, which I'll link to because this girl doesn't want to type it out again. Or, well, even copy and paste:

Diana S I give to 3 stars, maybe. I don't know.... I need a couple of days to think about this book.

...... Well, I give this book 3.5 stars.

Rosa, her narcissistic ways ..... what can you say!
Sometimes shocking! Sometimes Funny! Sometimes you couldn't help but "sigh" and tell yourself " What is this woman going to do next?" She had a way of showing her "kind" of love (this is the best way!).... to her husband, the girls, and her "friends". All in the name of being "Tartar". "Wow"!?
