Hello everyone! So my question is quiet simple (...)I read the book "Daughter of Venice" for the first time on 28th Dec. 2006 at the age of twelve. I liked the way Donna Jo Napoli wrote it & I was as well impressed by the backround information that influenced the author to write that book. Then again I love the setting (...) To make it short: Is there a book similar to the book mentioned above by Donna Jo Napoli? THANKS for ANSWERING! - Maria

I could recommend other YA historical fiction, but this is the first book by Napoli I've read.

The first book that comes to mind to recommend to fans of this is At the Sign of the Sugared Plum, but of course that's by Mary Hooper, who specializes in historical fiction.

I have only read Daughter of Venice but from looking at the descriptions these seem to be similar:

Bound
The Smile
Stones in Water
The King of Mulberry Street
Alligator Bayou
Fire In The Hills

You might also like Witch Child or Fever 1793.

I would recommend the young adult book Primavera.
Though this book is by Mary Jane Beaufrand and not Donna Jo Napoli, it has the same feel to it and is also set in 16th century Italy.
