Christine I finished Fair Game this morning. I really liked it. I've always preferred Mercy to Anna, but in this one it seems like Anna has really come in to her own. And it makes the relationship between her and Charles seem so much more real when you see them struggling through something that could tear them apart. But they came out stronger for it. And that ending was incredible. I was so mad when they found Heuter innocent. Not a lesser charge, but actually innocent! What the ? I can't wait for the next Mercy book to see what affect the new position of the Fae has on everything.

Oh my gosh, I forgot about that! Hmm, I'll have to think about it Anna.

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 11 comments After reading this one I feel like I need to go back and reread all the Mercy & Alpha books in their right order because in this one we got some insight, some revelations, and some good ol fashion bombshells...I just love these books. But the end..Oh man the ending was spectacular. Pat Briggs definitely took us in an unexpected direction with that ending - hell she basically just gave new life to the series!!! How long do we have to wait for the next book?

Carolyn F. Probably a year Jessi!

I did a re-read of both series by audiobook on my MP3 player and it was great. That way I was "reading" while driving my car and at work between files. :)

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 11 comments That sucks...When you read a great book then have to wait a year to get the next one it just sucks but it will be worth the wait I'm sure. I mean I just finished reading Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward and it was definitely worth the year wait!!!

Carolyn F. I almost wish I'd just discovered the series and could go through the books for the first time. I love the Outlander series too and she takes 2-3 years between books!

Emily | 24 comments Love the books but think the wait time is unreasonable. I like Stacia Kane because she can put out her books a few a year and they are amazing. Nothing is rushed or bad! Hopefully Mrs. Briggs can put out two or so a year. That would be amazing!

Carolyn F. I think she does one Alpha and then a Mercy and back and forth. Laurell Hamilton takes forever for her books too and they go back and forth between Anita and Merry. I have friended Laurell on Facebook and she is constantly out and about and going places on weekends. I know it's unreasonable, but we need to get our writers chained to their desk probably 80% of the time with small timeouts if they type so many pages. :)

Emily | 24 comments HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA They must meet a five chapter requirement before they are allowed a break! Excellent ;)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 297 comments Forget the 5 chapter thing Emily--its a full BOOK--then they get a 2 week vacation, then its back to work. lol, I know that's too harsh, but, well, that's what I feel like sometimes, when eagerly awaiting a new book in a series.

Anna | 53 comments Got it from the library as I couldn't wait any longer. I still love the series but...
The book didn't hang together as well for me as the other ones: I felt PB was trying to do too much too quickly and lost some of her threads in the middle. I loved the story with Leslie at the beginning but she kind of petered out as did the other FBI yet PB did lots of POV in the first third.
Isaac also says 'Thanks' to Beauclaire (fae) when he provides some light for the boat but neither Charles nor Anna react at all! WTF?! Surely that's just sloppy editing.
I did like the ending but I also wasn't convinced a jury would let him off completely - he had killed too many children and the pictures were supposed to be horrific. I don't buy that even if they were half fae.

Loved the bits with Adam and Bran but am frustrated that she develops new characters in Boston then disappears off back to Montana. In MT, the characters have time to develop over a number of books. I get the feeling she was trying to cram it all into 1 book here and it should have developed much more slowly.

I felt it needed more editing - I wonder if she is under too much pressure to rush and produce the books.

Regina (reginar) | 110 comments I can't wait to see what you think about it. It is my favorite by Briggs so far.

That's saying something! I'm not sure when I will get to start it because I am juggling a lot of review books, but hopefully I will be able to read it soon. :)

Regina (reginar) | 110 comments Haha, it really is saying something.

I understand that arc pressure, but darn -- you need to read this one!

Gerd | 30 comments Finally reading "Fair Game" which after a run of entertaining but somewhat bland novels reads all the more amazing, hands down the best Paranormal Romance series on the market - it's probably marketed as Urban Fantasy, but really, it got _everything_ I'm looking for in a PNR.

And I simply love how Patricia is one of the very few authors that understands that eroticism is not about bland sex... really, the airport scene with Anna drinking the water - ssssizzling!

Regina (reginar) | 110 comments Agreed! Although I was excited to have a sex scene (smut lover that I am). :) I like that she doesn't overdo the sex though.

Gerd | 30 comments Ah yes, the required gratuitous sex scene.
Not sure what I think of it, but I did like the after play.

GA (strangesoul) | 2 comments The 3rd annual DABWAHA is happening right now. The DABWAHA is as March Madness style tournament of romance books held by Dear Author and Smart Bitches, Trashy Books (both great review sites).

Right now over at dabwaha.com Patricia Briggs' Fair Game and Nalini Singh's Archangel's Storm are the last paranormal/Urban Fantasy romances standing, on their way to the championship.

Right now, we are down by about 50 votes. So if you loved Fair Game... Go vote! Voting is open until midnight CST.

Disclaimer: I picked Fair Game to win the whole show in my bracket. ;)
