It is hard trying not to repeat myself in a post or make a similar post. I have trouble remembering if I have started a topic and where I last posted it as well. I have so many thoughts, but so many times they are just riffs on what I have already said or are posted elsewhere that I forget and repeat my ideas again in a new way, or hopefully it seems that way.
We all need to hear somethings repeated to us over and over until we believe them, and unfortunately it seems only the negative stuff stays with us and not the positive. We are all good at that one. I know I am a work in progress but I frequently forget that in favor of old thought patterns, out of comfortable habit, because making new ones is too hard. I guess we all expect some huge epiphany, some angelic choir cue, some moment of "Eureka!" that flips a switch and our hair comes down, the glasses come off and we are attractive and all of our problems are *poof* gone.
We are so used to instant gratification in our world that any set back or whiff of our hard work is not paying off RIGHT NOW! that we feel cheated or like failures. We fell like we should have done better and either give up and got eat the entire bag of Oreos, call ourselves names,or what have you. WE are not wrong, or broken or stupid or any of the things we tell ourselves we are. WE are who we are. WE are human, which means we make mistakes, we mess up, we fail. WE are works in progress and will always be works in progress and that is fine. We just need to accept that. I recently heard a good quote on "Tabatha Takes Over" on Bravo. She was at a salon that was falling apart and the owner said "We are all diamonds in the rough. We need to polish each other."
I like that. We ARE diamonds in the rough. If you are a size 2 or a size 80, we are all who we are and we can all shine foe who we are. We are all works in progress, we are all diamonds rough or otherwise. WE are are who WE are, and if I have to keep repeating that, then well, I will until we all accept it. Me included.
