SOLVED. SciFi Series about Teens getting Alien Powers, not Animorphs [s]

I have been trying to remember the name of a book series that I read while a young teenager. All I can remember is that each book followed a separate teenager that somehow got a superpower lent by aliens, and I believe that each teenager one way or another found their way to an/the alien mothership. It was similar to animorphs, I guess. I recall the novels all being rather short with a title in shimmering silver. I also remember that I never read the series to the end, because my bookstore couldn't find the next book at some point in the series. I would estimate that the series was still being written around early 2000s.
