Lena was using Julian as a way not to think of Alex, even tho she didnt no it. We all no Lena is going to end up with Alex, (that's his purpose, aside from being super amazing hot, sweet and everything u could ever want in a guy ) so wat is Julian's purpose?

Ok sorry i have to ask this, i feel like im missing something important, WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE ALEX?, apart from the fact that he showed Lena how to love and saved her life at the end, i mean i know these things are noble an great but i need more than tht if im going to REALLY care about him, so many people are in love with him as a book character, i read the book and felt like i didnt really know him at all, and in Pandemonium i really didnt miss him being there,. This is obviously just me thinking this but really WHY? xxx

I think alex I mean he was great in delirium, but at the end of pandemonium you get a glimpse of him so much more grown I mean he gave everything for lena and it obviously took it's toll on him, and I love julian too but he's too naive for my taste and alex he has just been trough a lot, I just love him

Haha!I know THAT feeling sometimes (not in this case, but in some others, yeah: I get the feeling.) These all are really my own opinion, but I love Alex for a couple of reasons.
A) He's a nice guy. Smiley and all that. I dig guys who have some sort of sense of humor, and I just can't really resist that.
B) He reads poetry-pfft. I know that isn't much of a reason, but heck: if a guy reads literature and loves it, he's the guy for me! (Look at Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices: his usual quoting famous literature pieces just kinda shows a gentle side to him, and makes him so unique. And a lot hotter! *Sweatdrop*)
C) Alex is also a patient, loyal, noble guy like you said: he helped assist Lena learn what love's about without forcing it on her. He left her alone when she wanted to be left alone. He rescued her when she was in trouble. He helped open her eyes to reality and the wonders of love. He kinda chose her of all girls to try and open her eyes to the madness of not loving. And he had took the risk of his identity to tell her how he felt and who he really is. Most guys aren't truthful like that in books. And another thing to take note of Alex's wonderfulness is that he helped her find out what REALLY happened to her mom when showing her his dad's grave (oh lookie! Another reason of how Alex is marvelous: he's a sweetie!)
D) He made her think she was beautiful. She said before she always thought she was an in-between girl-but Alex helped make her feel beautiful. He showed her that she truly is beautiful. Julian never once told her that. Instead, he-no offense-kinda said things about her appearence that made me think, "Pervert." I mean the shower scene? Yech. I would've slapped Julian silly and caused some serious damage to him over that...

E) Alex isn't some perfect, robotic book guy-he actually cries when he feels like he's homesick. And a real man is a man who can shed a few tears.
F) He rides a MOTORCYCLE! C'mon! That's AWESOME! *Permission to roll eyes at this reason and the one below and the one after that*
G) His look are HOT. Golden brown hair that looks like an autumn leave changing colors? Amber eyes? Such a unique look (I'm not much of a fan over blond guys like Julian-no offense little brother!)
And H) I'm a sucker for first loves ('cept usually in love triangles, cuz the girl makes the idiotic choice of who her "first love" is that makes me want to strangle her...right, moving on.) Especially Lena's and Alex's relationship. I know they only knew each other for a couple of months, but that's the thing: I felt like they actually got to KNOW each other. They talked, hanged out, and had a big ol' laugh over things. Heck, instead of going straight to the "I love yous," they first started with the "I like yous," like most people do! I just felt like that made the relationship feel realistic and not rushed. That's what I felt for Lena and Julian: insta-love with a pinch of lust. Lena kept thinking of Alex and even ASKED for his forgiveness when she kissed Julian. She barely got OVER Alex. And the fact she got over the love-of-her-life who sacrificed his "live" to her over six months??? Either Lena is a hypocrite and shallow, or she's just looking for a rebound. She and Julian knew each other for two weeks...IN JAIL!
I dunno, I just don't buy it. Especially with the fact I believed Alex was alive.

I'm totally team Alex and stuff, but I do not hate Julian. He is a REALLY important character. I think the end of Pandemonium set up the explosion of the revolution. Julian was a face of the DFA and he chose no cure...he chose love. What is that going to do for the rebels? Not to mention that Raven KILLED HIS FATHER. The LEADER of the DFA. This book series is about a lot more than a love story about a boy and a girl. It's about the freedom to love.
Julian. I didn't ever really LIKE Alex, although clearly Lena did, so I wanted them together. However, now that Julian is on the scene, he seems more Lena's type. Not quite so risky, but strong, curious, fun. Also, Julian seems more grown up compared to Alex in some ways. So, for the first time, I can say that I'm rooting for the second guy in the love triangle.

I completely agree. Alex has always felt like such a flat character to me. He does good things, but he's so child like to me. He didn't feel like an indulgence to me, and he wasn't a character that made me think "Oh my, I wish he really existed!". A good love interest makes me think and feel those things, and I wasn't getting that from him.
But Julian. Oh yes, Julian is a perfect love interest, especially for Lena. I adored him!

I love Alex because of how understanding and compassionate he is. He understands Lena even though she doesn't quite understand herself. I love how he doesn't just accept what happens to him (*cough* like Julian *cough*) but does something about it.

Lena feels for Julian, but its more pity affection due to what happened to his brother, his illness and his relationship with his father. She feels an overwhelming need to protect him and save him and is confusing this with love. This whole Julian thing is a total joke. They only knew bits and pieces of each other. I think she only felt as if she loved him because of the fact they had to survive by helping each other.

hahaha i actually don't think lena should be lonely cause she won't be, she'll go after julian. i rather see her with alex then julian no matter how much lena doesn't deserve alex (and she doesn't)
