Danine (dulcemea) This question has nothing to do with literature but with the name of this group.

Sometimes I think putting a year in the title can put some people off if they see the group mid or end of year. Some people may not join because they figure it's too late to join.

Should the Group name be changed? If so, what are some suggestions? Or do you think the title is just fine the way it is?

Dini had the idea of '50 Books A Year'. Would a title like that be more inviting?

Sarah (kuckbaby) <--- Likes having the 2009 etc in the title.

Jane I like the 50 Books a Year option, too. The group may seem more consistent that way versus changing it every year.

Suzanne Shumaker | 53 comments I also like the 50 books a year option. I think it will take some pressure off of people just joining.

Molly | 330 comments 50 Books a Year

Perhaps "50 books Every Year" or "A Book a Week" though that's perhaps too restrictive. Point is to make clear that people can join at any time and the goal is to read 50 books in the next 12 months and then start over again. How to capture that in a short title is beyond my headline making abilities.

How about "12 months-50 Books"? See I have run out of inspiration.

KrisT I am fine with the title but I do see what you mean that others might just pick up a book and join in. The title could be something more vague like "reading through 2009" - 50 books or more or something like that. :)

Sarah (kuckbaby) Yea....50 books a year...it seems more like a one time thing, not like a lifetime challenge. Which is what it should be, reading.

message 9: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 105 comments I joined in August, and was not daunted by the fact that I knew I wouldn't be able to read 50 books in 4.5 months. I just think it's a fun way to keep track of what I have read.

message 10: by Lioba (new)

Lioba | 138 comments I think '50 books a year' would be a good title - but I don't mind too much. I wasn't put off by the 2008 title when I joined - but maybe that was because I had kept track of the books I read before I joined so I could still list them all.

I have a question: How do I move my entry from the challenge thread to the 'finish line' thread? :-)

message 11: by Danine (new)

Danine (dulcemea) Lioba-Congrats on your 50 :)
Here's how to move your entry to the 'finish line'thread. At the end of your topic title, Lioba's 50 books in 2008, there should be the word 'edit' in small print. If you click on that you will have the option to move your entry to the 'finish line' folder. If you'd like I can do it for you just let me know.

Lioba | 138 comments Thanks! I had tried to do that before about twice or three times but it never worked. Must have been some flaw. Or this computer. ;-) Now I tried it again though and it did work. :-)

Valerie | 30 comments I like the name as is also.
I joined in July, so in 6 months I got over 50 books read. I was so amazed. I was very motivated, and plus Goodreads lends itself to helping you find books you want to read! Here's to 2009!
