Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) http://www.charlaineharris.com/deadan...
and here is the cover: http://www.charlaineharris.com/index....

I like this cover a lot. We get Bill AND Eric on it and of course Sookie's in the middle. It's awesome!

Jess | 116 comments awesome, I can't wait for this book to come out. I wonder if one of the boys is going to die. Well, finally die. I hope its not Eric!!!

If Eric dies, I will bawl my eyes out and be devastated for the rest of the year. LOL

Agreed. I'd be so sad.

Jess | 116 comments Hmm, maybe the cover indicates more of a decision that Sookie will have to make. Maybe she has to finally choose between them or something like that. damn, I wish that the book would just come out already. I think Harris releases the covers early just so that people start wondering. damn her!! lol

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Jess wrote: "Hmm, maybe the cover indicates more of a decision that Sookie will have to make. Maybe she has to finally choose between them or something like that. damn, I wish that the book would just come out ..."

I totally think she has to make a choice between the two of them and it better be Eric. I'm sorry. Bill used her and I kinda feel like he neglected her for that website. Eric hasn't once rejected her or made her feel negleced. Bill is dead to me and I mean really dead. LOL

message 9: by Jess (new)

Jess | 116 comments I completely agree with you!!! I sort of liked him in the first book, but after that it was all downhill from there. With Eric you know what you're getting, and he hasn't ever disappointed her. I hope she just gets rid of Bill for good. He's always so dramatic! lol :)

message 10: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) It's really funny because a lot of my friends are reading the books now and they're completely enamored with Bill. I really have to bite my tongue and not say anything about what a jerk he ends up being. She really better not choose him- I will be really upset. Eric fits her personality far much better than workaholic serious Bill.

message 11: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Yep, she better choose Eric. Not on the Bill bandwagon at all. Cool cover. Is it May yet?

message 12: by Christy (new)

Christy | 127 comments I don't think Bill is a jerk. He's a vampire and he did what he had to do, what he was ordered to do. But I do think he got pretty boring. I love Eric, but I can't really imagine Eric and Sookie living happily ever after. I think Sookie will end up with someone completely different and I really hope that Eric and Bill both remain in the storyline. I LOVE this series and can't wait until May.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Christy wrote: "I don't think Bill is a jerk. He's a vampire and he did what he had to do, what he was ordered to do."

Thank you! He had no choice in anything, and while Sookie is justified in being angry, I think she goes a little overboard sometimes. (If she took the time to think about it, she'd see that he wasn't just following orders the whole time, and really does love her. Bill's visit to Sookie's grandfather is evidence of this to me.)I think Bill got a really, really bad rap, and the story being told from Sookie's perspective only makes this worse, since we don't know the whole story.

I actually much prefer Bill to Eric, but I am in the smallest minority on this.... I like Bill's strong, quiet stability to Eric's blonde flamboyant-ness.

*shrug* We'll have to wait to see what happens.

Evelynn Passino (evpassino) | 131 comments Go Team Bill!

I like Eric, but they have no chance together. Does anyone really think he's going to leave behind 1,000 years as a vampire mob boss for some human with an ounce of fairy blood? She won't become a vampire and he's too prideful to take a 60 year sabbatical.

Alas, I don't see how she can end up with Bill, either. There's a lot of mistrust there and I don't see Sookie forgiving easily. I think it will take an enormous sacrifice on his part to show her that he really loves her (if, in fact, he really does love her as much as I think he does.)

Maybe Sookie doesn't need a man. Maybe she will come to realize she is strong enough on her own.

message 15: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments Woo! YAY BILL! We're a small team, but we can get rowdy ;)

That's what I'm hoping for. Not so big a sacrifice that he dies, or anything, but big enough that she knows the risk he faced for her.

This is what irritates me: Sookie worked for the Queen of LA, so she knew that she wasn't a vampire to be disobeyed, and yet she is still so angry at Bill for not disobeying her orders, for Sookie's benefit, before he ever even knew Sookie.

We've seen time and time again in the series that vampires don't think of humans as equals (no matter how hard they try to fit in with humans), so why should he have refused on principle?

Poor Bill! He was doomed to be unhappy no matter what he did, right from the start. I really hope that Sookie can forgive him and make him happy.

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) I'm happily a member of Team Bill! I definitely prefer him to Eric. Bill was following the orders of the Queen, while doing so he fell in love with him. That doesn't seem to count with Sookie and I just want to scream at her! People make mistakes and you forgive. It was in the following of the Queen's orders that Bill and Sookie met.....so something good came out of it. I wish she would see that.

message 18: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I know how you feel Kathy. Sookie is definitely frustrating to me sometimes! She's just so ready to push people out of her life after one mistake... Like she's perfect herself and has never made mistakes.

I don't get it...

message 19: by Christy (new)

Christy | 127 comments Well I have a little more patience and understanding for Sookie given her history. Everyone she has ever loved has either died, hurt her or disappointed her. Her grandmother was her only stable person in her life. She opened herself up to and trusted Bill, so she was hurt even more. It's not logical for her to be so angry with Bill since she understands Vampire politics and culture, but since when do emotions have ANYTHING to do with logic??

message 20: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) That's true Christy, she has every right to be angry with Bill... I don't dispute that, but Sookie over-reacts to almost any mistake or perceived slight.

She was mad at Alcide after the Debbie incident, and I still don't know why. He had abjured her and would have killed her himself if necessary. (My theory is that she was mad because he knew what happened and didn't hate Sookie for it. And that makes no sense.)

She was mad at Quinn for being a fighter, which I don't understand. Was he supposed to recount every detail of his life as soon as they met?

She gets angry with Sam way more than I see reason for, and he only tries to help her and look out for her.

She banned her brother from her life for setting it up so that she'd catch Crystal... Yes, she had to injure Calvin but that was CRYSTAL'S doing, not Jason's. Even so, she has every right to be mad, but to NEVER want to see him again? He's her brother.

I just don't understand her reasons for the things that she takes offense to. We're all entitled to be angry when someone treats us badly, but some of the things that she does just make no sense to me.

message 21: by Jess (new)

Jess | 116 comments I agree, sometimes Sookie becomes irrationally upset over things that people have no control over. Thinking about it from the author's point of view though, I think this allows to create more drama in the series and also to introduce more characters. If Sookie never became mad at Bill for instance, Eric couldn't really have been introduced like he was in book 4. I think it just allows for Harris to create more storylines.

Although, I can see that Sookie would be upset with her brother. I dont think it was that one incident that upset her, but the fact that Jason was constantly thinking of himself before everyone else including Sookie. I think that was just the straw that broke the camel's back

message 22: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Jess, I can agree with that to a point. Sookie had every right to be pissed at Bill. And I understand the need for drama and all of that.

I wouldn't want to read 8 books worth of Bill and Sookie's blissful cohabitation: Sookie working, Bill compiling his database... Dishes, laundry, sex every Tuesday at 4am like clock-work. Even as much as I prefer Bill, that would bore me to tears.

It's not even so much her reaction to Bill that bothers me, although irrational is the perfect word here, it's her reaction to everyone else who offends her in any way.

I can't imagine cutting my brother out of my life, no matter how selfish and self-centered he is (and he is.), or how many mistakes he's made. And I have a full family to fall back on if I did. Sookie's only got Jason, so that makes no sense to me.

Probably it won't last and he'll apologize and she'll accept and they will be back on speaking terms... But I really think that Sookie needs to take a breath before reacting like a nuclear bomb. Hopefully she will start to mature in this respect soon.

Evelynn Passino (evpassino) | 131 comments Becky said: "Sookie needs to take a breath before reacting like a nuclear bomb."

Could not agree more. But...

She is incredibly damaged. Maybe she wasn't totally wrong when she said her telepathy was a disablity. It has completely altered the course of her life and alienated her from a lot of people.

Before Bill, she was really only close to Gran, and I suppose Tara. Bill was not only her first boyfriend, but one of the first people she was able to get close to, period. What has happened to Sookie in these books is like throwing a 10 year old into a round of Speed Dating.

She seems to be leveling off (if I recall there was very, very little romance in FDTW), so maybe we are on the path to a more mature and rational Sookie. I sure do hope so. Watching the series only made me more irritated by Sookie. Not sure how much more of her drama I can take.

For what it's worth, I think Harris is heading towards a Sookie-Sam hookup. She has placed him a little like Rene in DUD. Nice guy in the background...then BAM! As much as I personally like vampires, I think shifters are the best option for her anyway. Its the best mix for her because they have strong footing in both the human and supernatural world.

message 24: by Christy (new)

Christy | 127 comments I've been hoping for a Sookie/Sam hookup since book 1. I love Sam and I think Sookie would have a much more fullfilled life with a Shifter than with a Vampire (as much as I love the vamps).

message 25: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mitchellemybelle) | 7 comments Me too! And now after watching season 1 of True Blood...I want to see Sam and Sookie hook up even more!

message 26: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shellyjanuary) | 4 comments I, too, have wanted to see Sam and Sookie together since book 1. I know she always says she just doesn't think of Sam that way, but he seems to be the one that is really there for her, consistently, throughout every book. No matter what she does, or who she's with, or how irrationally she may behave, he's got her back. To me, that kind of person can grow on you, and you can begin to see them in ways you didn't see them before.

So, yeah, put me in the "Sam & Sookie" group, too.

message 27: by Jess (new)

Jess | 116 comments Michelle - that is true, Sam is always around for her. But I think the books would be even more interesting if there's a whole new man altogether for Sookie. If anyone read the short story in Wolfsbane and Mistletoe, I want that guy in the new books lol.

message 28: by Christy (new)

Christy | 127 comments I have a feeling there will be someone new for Sookie. I think it's good that she's getting involved with different "men."
Sookie had a lot of years with no positive attention from the opposite sex. It bugged me for a while that every single hot supe in every book was immediately drawn to her, but the fairy blood explanation helped that be less annoying.

Really? I thought it was more annoying. Oh, it's not you, honey, it's your grandfather.

message 30: by Jayne (new)

Jayne | 1 comments Sookie is going to end up with Sam they set everything up for it in the last book. I think Eric is infatuated with her or the act of feeling something for another person human or dead I don't think he's in contention for the long term. Between Sam and Bill I hope she ends up with Bill even though his actions were horrible. Being without Sookie hurts Bill the most. So I guess I am rooting for Bill b/c I pity him but in may heart I know she will end up with Sam b/c they seem so perfect for each other. Based on the Chapter going to Amazon to preoder the Dead and Gone and I never buy hardbacks...Want to make sure its at my door the first day it comes out...This waiting is horrible!!!

message 31: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shellyjanuary) | 4 comments Jayne, I'm actually considering buying this, too. I work at a library, so I could probably get it right away once we get it, but we're not always very good at having things as soon as they're released. I don't want to have to wait a few days (or, possibly, weeks) to read this.

Of course, if I buy it, I'll have to go back and buy all the others, too. I just cannot have one book in a series and not get the ones before it. It does help that I do love this series.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm....I thought the last book set it up perfectly for Sookie and Eric to hook up again. I don't like Sam at all. If her and Sam hook up, I'll have to skim through all the romance/sex scenes for fear of gagging through the entire book. I'll even take Sookie and Butthead Bill over Sookie and Sam. Obviously, I'm team Eric. But, I think the cover of the book most likely indicates that there will be a showdown between team Bill and team Eric. and I thought that came out in FDTW. Bill started showing up and telling her that he loves her still and wants her to come back around to him. And she indicates that is tempting and that she has to remind herself that she is mad at him. Then there's Eric who suddenly remembers everything and says that he remembers being happy for the first time when he was with her. I don't know that she'll end up with either of them long-term, but I have a feeling that the showdown between the two for her affection will be at least part of the focus in the next book.

1) Even vampires make mistakes...I still choose Bill. I know it's irrational, and if I was Sookie, no way would I take him back, but I can't help but like him.

2) I don't remember him seeing her back, but if he did, he should have known it was the Maenad. I'm disappointed in Sam for that, too. I have to admit that the show has made me like Sam a lot more than the books did. While I don't hope for Sookie and Sam to get together, I do believe that is where Harris is headed.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Sam is just yucky. There's also the fact that he had a thing for were who was sent to make Sookie's life hell...I can't remember her name right now. Anyway, I know he didn't know that the girl was trying to make trouble for Sookie, but basically its not like he's pining away for Sookie. And, I don't think he needs to. I guess I'm not really making much sense. I just don't like Sam. And, turning into a dog and sitting in her room while she's gettting dressed or whatever is creepy. I can see Harris eventually moving toward Sookie being with a were shapeshifter because of the fact that she wants a normal life and kids and all that, but I hope its not Sam.
