Welcome to the Into the Forest 2012 Reading Challenge. Should you choose to accept it, you will win nothing because I'm a cheapstake. You will, however, earn my sincere admiration.

1. Challenge runs from Jan 2012 to Feb 2013 (I'm posting dating so you can include books you've already read)

2. Books used for other challenges are fine.

3. Books used for group reads are allowed.

4. Establish a bookshelf for the books you've read (or plan on reading) for this challenge

5. Because of the diverse age ranges of group members, children books are fine.

6. You must read 12 books, one in each of the catergories listed below. You do not have to read them in order.

7. You do not need to write a review unless you want to, but you should have a shelf for this challenge.

8. The term "fairy tale" in the catergories below, also refers to any retelling or book influenced by a particular tale. In other words, Jane Eyre would count because of the Beauty and the Beast influence.

Catergories (graphic novels and children's books count)

1. A version of Cinderella

2. A sci-fi fairy tale

3. A historical fiction fairy tale

4. A "romance" fairy tale (Think romance novels or Jane Austen)

5. A fairy tale featuring animals

6. A biography about one fairy tale writer/artist/movie director

7. A critical work about fairy tales

8. A fairy tale mystery

9. A collection of fairy/folk tales from Asia (or a retelling of such tale)

10. A collection of fairy tales from one of the following (1) Native Americans (2) First People (3) Aborgines (4) Inuit

11. A collection of folk/fairy tales from Africa.

12. Reader's Choice
