Lari Don (laridon) | 1 comments I'm a children's writer, and so far about a third of my books have been aimed at reluctant readers. I've found the editorial process much more rigorous for these books (which I really enjoyed!) but I'd be really interested to know whether parents and kids who are looking out for these books feel that they are getting what they need. The books I've written, for both Barrington Stoke and A&C Black, have pictures on most pages, a fast pace and lots of action, and considerable effort put into having teen appropriate and interesting content in simple clear language. Is that what works for you? Do you think writers and publishers put enough effort into keeping readers (all readers!) engaged? (I have to say that what I've learnt from working on reluctant reader books has improved my writing for my other novels too!) Let me know, so I can make my next books even better! (this is also my first attempt to comment in a Goodreads discussion, so if I'm making a mess of it, I do apologise!)Lari Don
