I'm a children's writer based in Scotland, and most of my fiction is inspired by the Scottish landscape and local legends. I love writing fantasy adventures for 8 - 12 year olds, but I also love creating stories for other age groups.
I've said goodbye to the characters in my Fabled Beast Chronicles series, and am very excited about the new adventure I've been writing, the Spellchasers Trilogy. I've been trying out different genres too, and have recently published Mind Blind, a YA thriller set in Scotland and London.
I've written several picture books, including one about bottoms (which I enjoy reading to infant classes!) and I've written retellings of myths for older readers, including a collection of my favourite Scottish legends and folklo

Do you have a local monster? I was lucky (I think!) because I grew up near quite a few monsters.

Nearest to me was the Green Lady, a ghost who wandered sadly round Balvenie Castle, leaving green slime on the walls as she trailed her fingers along the cold stone. My friends and I never saw the Green Lady herself, but we all saw the green evidence that she was there…

There was a local giant too, or...

Lari Don So I've just added a new book to the list of Books by Lari Don for the first time (my new picture book - Orange Juice Peas) which was quite a thrill! But I've also failed to add a picture of the rather lovely cover, which was a bit of a disappointment. Anyone got any suggestions of how to do that?

Christine Hatfield thanks for being my friend

Dave Hi Lari, thanks for the friend request. :)

Lari Don I'm sure if this box is for me to comment on my own page, but it seems like a convenient place to say: I realise that I'm giving either 4 or 5 stars to every book I review. This is NOT because I am incapable of telling a bad book from a good one, nor because I am amazingly expert at picking only excellent books to read, nor even because as an author, I don't want to be rude about other authors. It's because I'm not bothering to put up books on Goodreads that I wouldn't happily recommend to my best friend! So, if it's here and I've given it 4 or 5 stars, it's because I loved it. You can't see the pile of books by my bed which I'm not telling you about!
