SOLVED. Book: pre 2000, girl wears ring that only people with similar powers can see [s]

I am looking for a book which I can remember almost NOTHING about.

1. A girl somehow travels to a magic land where she meets people with secret powers.
2. Those people can fly and teach the girl how to use her abilities to fly.
3. When she leaves this magic land she wears a ring which only people with the same powers can read.
4. The other people are odd individuals
5. I THINK the girl travels to the world when she sleeps
6. The girl and others used to hangout by a lake

Any help would be appreciated. I think I have a snowball's chance of finding this book with this description!

It is The Land Behind The World by Anne Spencer Parry. I read it as a kid/ teen and loved it. There are others in the series, I need to read them sometime, although I think the first was the best.

I think it might be hard to find as it doesn't seem to have been republished since 1987 but I would check sites like The Book Depository and Amazon. :)
