Kath | 1233 comments OMG it's only gone and got to number FIVE :)
Holy Cow...

message 102: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments And as there's another day of the promo to go, I'm aiming for number 4 :-)

message 103: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Strangely, though, there have been no downloads in the UK this morning. It's ticking over nicely in the US, where I expected everyone to be asleep by now. It is #2 in their drama category, and #26 in thrillers.

message 104: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments i'll re-announce its freeness over at the zoo when someone else starts the freebie thread and over at the KUF too...
i'm aiming for number 1 myself :)

message 105: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Maybe it's just a lag. Saw 2070 downloads all morning, then refreshed and another 57 in a few seconds!! Anyway, time to do some work (yeah, like that's gonna happen with this going on!!).

If you could repost, that would be wonderful :-))

Thanks a million, Kath.

message 106: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (truckinggeek) | 90 comments Just downloaded it. Looks interesting. It is now 3rd in my "to be read" folder on my kindle!!

message 107: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks for downloading. I really hope you enjoy it, Andrew :-)

message 108: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments ok so that's here done, KUF done and Amazoo (uk - even i am not brave enough to tackle the US sorry)

and i also read that there are a few more spaces for nominations for book to read next month over at KUF so I re-nominated it there and mentioned that it was free too :)

message 109: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Kath, you are a Godsend :-))

message 110: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments you are more than welcome cos as i keep saying it is one of THE best of its genre i have EVER read, so the kudos goes to you really for writing something that is so good imo that i want everyone to know about AND read it :)

in truth, it is quite easy helping promote a product that i truly believe in...

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Congratulations Alan, and as Kath says well deserved.

message 112: by Alan (last edited Apr 16, 2012 03:28AM) (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks ladies.

I was a bit forlorn this morning when both the US and Uk figures refused to budge but now the numbers are climbing every ten seconds. Got to #115 in the US free list and #1 in their Drama, but don't know how long that will last.

Was a bit miffed at slipping to #6 here in the UK but hopefully this fresh spurt will shove me back up there :-))

message 113: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments How was that for timing! Just checked again and it's now #3 in the UK! Thank you so much for your help, Kath. I'm certain it's all down to you :-))

message 114: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments OMG... that's FANTASTIC... number bloomin 3 :)

I was ignoring the #6 bit as I was sure it was just a blip...

I will take some of the credit for pointing some people at it, but the rest is down to the reviews and blurb and stuff and that, Alan, is all YOU...

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Brilliant! You make a winning team.

message 116: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Wow- that's fantastic news. Andrew- you'll love it!

message 117: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Okay, we'll put it down to teamwork! I'm happy with that :-)

What has surprised me is that I have already had a record-breaking day in sales for the sequel - I didn't think anyone could read it so quickly!

message 118: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Sometimes you don't need to read much to know you're going to love something. I can tell by the sample!

message 119: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Well, long may it continue :-)

message 120: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments Still holding at #3
Any thoughts of extending to to be free again tomorrow to see if you can get any higher / more exposure for GJ2, or do you think 3 is as high as it can go ?

message 121: by Kate (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments After Kaths recommendation yesterday I downloaded your book and will post a review once I've read it... which thanks to the strong recommendation from Kath, the 5* ratings I've seen and the interesting 'blurb', won't be long at all :)

message 122: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Kath, I think it has peaked now, but that's a lot higher than I ever expectd at the start. To be honest I thought I might get a couple of thousand downloads and would have settled for that, but at the last count it is 2250 in the US and 3600 in the UK, and these are changing every 5 seconds.

Kate, I really hope you enjoy it as much as Kath and Sarah did. The review would be really appreciated as I haven't had one for a while now :-))

message 123: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments WOW! Them's some numbers !

That's gonna lead to some more sales of GJ2 and will set you up for the release of GJ3 in August(?)...

NICE!
:)

message 124: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Well, when I was planning this I read some blog posts about authors who had 10k downloads and thought that would be a nice target, but with my limited marketing ability I told myself that 2k would be a more realistic figure. With 6k already downloaded, 10k doesn't seem that far away now.

I have already had 17 sales of GJ2 in the last 24 hours, which suggests at least 100 people liked the first book enough to buy the second, which bodes well for GJ3.

Once this is over I've got some serious catching up to do (haven't written for 2 whole days now!!)

message 125: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've still not read it yet but two friends got it as a freebie day before yesterday and have already devoured it. One in the UK and one the states. Both emailed me to say how much they enjoyed it. I've asked them to review. Don't know if they will. Many people are reticent to review..

Oooo there is a new thread for agony aunt.....

message 126: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks Patti, that's really encouraging! If you could persuade them to give back 20 words in exchange for the 70k I gave them that would be wonderful :-)

The promotion is almost over now and I stayed at #3 for the best part of yesterday, ending up with over 9000 downloads.

I'll call that a success :-)

message 127: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Final figures are in and I managed a total of 9761 downloads for Gray Justice!!

Once again, thanks for spreading the word, I really appreciate all the help.

Now to get back to writing GJ3...

message 128: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments That is fabulous Alan, well done. I look forward to reading it :-)

message 129: by Kath (last edited Apr 17, 2012 03:29AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments Wowsers (i'm running out of excitement words lol)

Near to the magic 10k...

A good promotion methinks - let's see what knock on effect it has - and i'm pretty sure that when people read GJ they WILL grab GJ2...

:)

edit cos i cant type!

message 130: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Yeah, the next few days are going to be very interesting :-))

message 131: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Amazing stuff mate! Well done!

message 132: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks Stuart. A few more sneaked in at the finish, so I have 9770 in all. Gobsmacked doesn't even come close!

message 133: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Good times!!

message 134: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments That's a heck of a number Alan. Well done. As you say, if just a few would exchange that gift for a review, you'll have cracked it!

message 135: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments The day just gets better and better!! Had 30 sales straight after the promo ended, then nothing for 3 hours. My mate checked the ranking and I'm #1 in Drama, #1 Mover & Shaker, #12 in Fiction and #350 overall, all in the PAID categories!!

Some serious Southern Comfort being drunk in the McDermott house tonight *Grins like a Cheshire cat*

message 136: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Cor blimey - I'd buy you a bottle myself - if I knew where you lived! That's tremendous. I really believe it deserves it too!

message 137: by Kath (last edited Apr 17, 2012 08:33AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments dead chuffed for you, but it's nothing more than you and your book deserve, believe it!!! :)

message 138: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks ladies :-)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Great news Alan! Cheers!

message 140: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments #116 in the PAID overall - looks good to reach top 100 soon and that will mean way more exposure :)

and strangely amazon also has it listed here...

#1 in Books > Music, Stage & Screen > Performing Arts
#1 in Books > Fiction > Poetry & Drama > Drama
#1 in Books > Poetry, Drama & Criticism

what's all that about then ?

message 141: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Yeah, I sent them an email about that and they sent back some gobbledegook about removing it from the current categories and sending them the ones I wanted it in. All I did was put it in Drama and Thriller, but it seems Drama picks up every possible variation! I wish it would show me at #2 in Thriller or #12 in Fiction instead. Those would make much more sense.

message 142: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Oh, and Gray Resurrection is now at number #16 in War, too :-)

message 143: by D.S. (new) - added it

D.S. Butler (dsbutler) | 19 comments Hi Alan,

I downloaded your book the other day after spotting it on your twitter feed. I haven't started it yet, but really looking forward to it now after reading this thread!

Danica

message 144: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Well, I really hope you enjoy it when you get round to reading it, D.S. :-))

message 145: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments It's broke into the top 100 :)

#91

I am so so pleased for you Alan :)

message 146: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks Kath!

It was #84 this morning but sales have been a little slow. had about 10 in the last hour so maybe that will let me hold my position or climb a place or two.

As for my earlier rankings, it seems I was looking at the charts, not the bestseller lists. However, Gray Justice is still #1 in Drama bestseller and #14 in Thriller bestseller, making me rather chuffed :-))

message 147: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments That's great stuff Alan! Ten in an hour??? I'd be chuffed to have ten in a day!!!

Good on you - hope it keeps rising!!

message 148: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments i missed it at #84 :(
for some reason they wanted me to actually do some work here this morning and i didn't get chance to look first thing...

message 149: by Alan (new)

Alan McDermott (jambalian) | 115 comments Thanks Stuart. Yeah, I can't believe these figures, either. I know it is the after effect of the KDP promotion and it usually lasts a few days at the most, but I'm hoping my high ranking will extend it past the weekend. If it does I'll be extremely chuffed :-)) Having said that, I know I will soon be back down to one or two sales a day, so I'm not wuitting my day job yet.

Kath, it never occured to me to take a screenshot, so I'll just have to hope it reaches those heights again. (Got screenshots of Gray Justice in the drama and thriller categories, though - something to show the kids!)

message 150: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath | 1233 comments you can get a screenshot when it reaches the top 10

i'm confident me :)
