Leah | 9 comments I love the exchange between Mr. and Mrs. Bennet when he says he's been to see Mr. Bingley and she says, "Nothing you say will ever vex me again!" And he replies, "I'm sorry to hear it."

Sophie | 1458 comments Yes - Mr Bennet is just good all over!

Caity | 144 comments another forgotten favorite line from the BBC version: Lizzy: "Shelves in the closet...happy thought indeed!" ROTFL!!! Love it!

Sophie | 1458 comments Sooo funny :D laugh every time! JA how funny you were!! Ahead of your time!!

Hilarious! I love that and when Wickham says to Mr Collins when he brags about Lady Catherine's expensive chimney piece- "Her ladyship is fond of a good blaze" :)

Sophie | 1458 comments Jamie wrote - "Her ladyship is fond of a good blaze" :)
yeah - so funny! collins is just great :) and oblivious to all the teasing and mocking he gets from the other characters ;)

Sandi (finfansand) | 54 comments Here's another terrifically assinine comment of Mr. Collins that keeps me in stitches: when he brags to Elizabeth that Lady Catherine suggested he put shelves in the closet. The fact that he couldn't think to do that on his own AND he thinks this is going to raise him in the eyes of others just cracks me up; no matter how foul my mood, the mere memory of any of his words makes me smile.

Sophie | 1458 comments Couldn't agree more - Collins = funny!! Bravo JA!!!

Caity | 144 comments Haha theres no NOT liking Mr Collins as irritating as he can be! Lol

Sophie | 1458 comments So true :D

Vintage Lady | 8 comments I love the part in the production with Keira Knightley when she comes back at Mr. Darcy with his line about dancing. Way to go. They just seem at odds but are really meant for one another.

Sophie | 1458 comments Love both those moments too :D

Nikol Likja I loved the whole book but the best part for me is Mr.Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth...It simply was so sincere and this part is so beautiful at the movie too..I also love the discussion between Elizabeth and Lady Catherine, Elizabeth's great words against lady Catherine.

Oh yes! every time I watch the movie, im like -GO ELIZABETH! :D

Sophie | 1458 comments Alice wrote - 'GO ELIZABETH! :D'
totally agree - great moment! just shout at the tv...
woo - girl power! you go girl!!! ;)

Lorraine (saanichlori) | 48 comments Catherine wrote: "Personally my favorite scene is the verbal disagreement between Lady Catherine and Elizabeth Bennet."

I so have to agree with you on this, Catherine. As much as I love the Netherfield dance and the first proposal, with Darcy looking abashed until his arrogance comes back, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that scene at the end with Lady Catherine and Elizabeth as they take a turn about the "little wilderness" and Lizzy tries to hard to keep from admitting the truth to her. The actress that plays Lady Catherine has such a wonderful voice and an arrogant air - she's absolutely wonderful! I so need to watch that scene again - some fantastic lines (probably scooped right out of the novel!)

Sophie | 1458 comments If I remember rightly , that bit is pretty exact just shortened !!

Caity | 144 comments Soph wrote: "Alice wrote - 'GO ELIZABETH! :D'

LOL absolutely!!!! I love yelling at the screen, knowing they can't get mad at me for it! ;D

Nicole | 18 comments Such a good sign that the actors have portayed their characters so well: when the viewers are so moved they are incensed against the characters! ;)

Not over the top or anything ;) - purely the acting skills and not the overly passionate person watching it ;) haha

Charlotte (charlotte_sometimes) I think my favorite scene is in the BBC version, when Elizabeth quickly interrupts Caroline's yapping about Wickham to divert Georgiana's attention, and then Elizabeth and Darcy's eyes meet and they smile at each other. <3

Honorable mentions: When Darcy gets out of the bath (hubb-hubba), watches Lizzie play with his dog out the window, and sort of, ALMOST, smiles. :)

When Mr. B. calls Lizzie into his study after the Collins proposal and tells her she must "from this day forward forever be a stranger to one of her parents." HYSTERICAL!

Sophie | 1458 comments Love all those moments too!!! :D <3

He does smile, too when he watches Lizzy dancing with Mr. Collins. So cute.

Sophie | 1458 comments I would say that is more of a laugh than a smile ;)

absolutely

Charlotte (charlotte_sometimes) Soph wrote: "I would say that is more of a laugh than a smile ;)"

And who can blame him? Poor Lizzie! I feel so sorry for her during that scene.

Sophie | 1458 comments Yes you can't but feel sorry for her!
Love that - ' rewind worthy!' totally agree though!!!
Definitely and also loveLizzie's angry face when she sees him laughing ;) Darcy knows that Collins is no competition for her affections ;) so laugh at Collins, scowl at Wickham !!

Adrie | 1 comments Most definitely when Mr. Darcy comes out of the lake at Pemberly in his wet shirt with his wet curly hair.
Also, when he almost smiles while Elizabeth is playing the piano.
Oh yeah, and when he FINALLY smiles in the end!! <3 <3

I swear he has a little smile on his face when he walks back into the room after Lizzy leaves Pemberley. I think its a little smile and a strut...until Miss Bingley ruins it with "I've never seen anyone so much altered..."

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

When Darcy smiles. Or almost smiles. Favorite scene, period:)

Sophie | 1458 comments Yes i think he smiles or nearly smiles quite often really just very... subtly ;)

and agreed Rachel :D

Caity | 144 comments Soph wrote: "Yes i think he smiles or nearly smiles quite often really just very... subtly ;)

Jane mentions him smiling SO much in the book, I wonder why he only smiles every now and then in the movies?

Sophie | 1458 comments That's a really good point - especially in the 2005 - he really doesn't smile till towards the end and when he meets his sister ....

Sophie | 1458 comments Love also the bit in the latest p and p when they are at Netherfield discussing accomplished woman and then Lizzie is like 'they would certainly be a fearsome thing to behold' then Bingley has a little chuckle to himself!! Bless him!!!

LadyDisdain ^ Haha, yeah, he's cute in that! And he's playing with the cushion as well. He's just adorable.

Sophie | 1458 comments he really really is :)

Natasha | 7 comments all these quotes from the 2005 version are tempting me into watching it again! :D i havent watched it since the discovery of the '95 version
all these are great scenes and quotes by the way!! :D

Sophie | 1458 comments I watched it today!! And soo worth watching again! Really different and therefore easy to love both!!! As I do!!!

Ev (evsbookshelf) In the 05' version when Mr. Darcy walks across the field after Lizzie talks with Lady Catherine. If she didn't say yes after that I would have. Yummy!
