Maggie Hi I'm Maggie, but I'm usually called Meg.
I read everything, from poems to sci-fi, but YA books are my favourite.
My number one author is John Green, and he inspired me with The Fault in Our Stars so much that I'm reading it over and over again.
Exept for novels, poems etc. I'm also a big manga reader.
I love movies but the book is always better.
English isn't my native language so please exuse my grammar.
I appreciate every recommendation, and I hope we can get along !

Kevin Nielsen Hi, my name is Kevin L Nielsen and I read and write YA Fantasy novels. Some of my favorite YA novels are actually bridge novels in that they span both MG and YA. Specifically, I enjoy John Flanagan's "Ranger's Apprentice" series along with anything by Brandon Sanderson (yes, I know he's mostly adult fantasy, but his YA novel, The Rithmatist, is probably my favorite book of all time. I have also recently found a new author who is great. Alyson Peterson's "Ian Quicksilver" series has an amazing teenage voice. Anyway, that's me.

Katie Jaros (katiejaros) | 11 comments Hello! My name is Katie Jaros from Seattle, WA. I have been a fan of YA since I WAS a YA...;)---I'm now a happy 32 year old writing my own stuff. Favorite authors include, but not limited to-- Cassandra Clare, Richelle Meade, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth--and top Banana, Stephanie Meyer.:) I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan-- which I know sort of straddles YA and children's lit-- and maybe is considered general fiction now?--on par with some sort of religious text?-- but I haven't decided if I'm going to really give Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them a chance...when I heard American Muggles were called "No Mages"-- I was inherently offended...I probably need to get over that and just enjoy the ride! Really looking forward to getting to know some new friends here- and find some cool books. Cheers!

Fave book? SO many - Game of Thrones, Harry Potter vii, The Bog Baby, The Lovely Bones, The Kite Runner...

Fave Author? George RR Martin and JK Rowling for the wonderfully rich worlds they created. I know that might be trite but those books inspired me to try my own hand at writing. They're my go-to pick-me-ups.

message 4669: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (faramirsqueen) Hey there! My name is Amelia and I'm from Minneapolis, MN. I'm not new to Goodreads, but a majority of my time on here has been complete inactivity. I've only just begun religiously using it to organize and keep track of my books. I would love it if you added me as a friend! I've mainly been reading fantasy YA for the past couple of months.

It's super hard to narrow down my favourite books, so I'll just list a few of them! The Song of Achilles, A Darker Shade of Magic, The Dream Thieves, The Great Gatsby, Hamlet, and The Kite Runner.

Favourite authors are really hard for me to list. I don't have specific authors that I really follow except for Victoria Schwab. I never look at the authors when searching for books and unless I think the book is out of this world amazing I won't seek them out. Some authors that I really enjoy are Leigh Bardugo, Maggie Stiefvater, J.R.R Tolkien, and Khaled Hosseini.

I am really looking forward to meeting some new people and finding new books! <3

Fernanda Lara (MysteryDateWithaBook) (mysterydatewithabook) Hey guys! My name's Fernanda and I'm new here :) I have a book blog (https://mysterydatewithabook.co.uk/) and I can't get enough of Young Adult books! ♥

Carissa (Colorado Cozy) (orchidf0xx) Hi, I'm Carissa. When I was little, I had a very hard time learning to read, but once I figured it out, it was impossible to pull me away from books. My favorite book is such a hard question to answer. it's a four-way tie, between; Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, The Boy Next Door by Katie Van Arc, Slammed by Colleen Hoover, and Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. Although the two Colleen Hoover novels would be considered New Adult. My favorite author is probably James Patterson or Colleen Hoover. I love James Patterson's Maximum Ride series. It was one of the first series to really suck me into the land of books. You could say Maximum Ride started my reading obsession. Haha. I'm really excited to have a group to join where I can discuss some of my favorite books!

message 4688: by Jacky (new)

Jacky (spotonculture) | 8 comments Hey everyone, my name is Jacky and I joined this group months ago, but I wasn't active here yet, so I thought I could start with introducing myself :D
I love YA though I'm already 23, but I also like other genres, like thriller, contemporary and romance.
I think my favorite book in YA is Delirium by Lauren Oliver, I just loved everything about it. I also read a lot by Sarah Alderson, though she uses a lot of stereotypes, but there's something in all her books I really can't stay away from :D
My "newest favorite" (it's some time ago I read this, but it overshadowed every other book I've read after that) is Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas.
And something about myself: I'm German and studying German language, literature, culture and music science.. so even for studying I have to read a lot, but mostly classics ;)

message 4699: by Diane (new)

Diane Hi, I am Diane and, at age 60, am at the far end of the Bell curve on YA readers. I am the mother of four (all readers), and my husband (another reader) does academic research on the Inklings. I have loved reading since first grade, and my tastes change with the stages of my life. I have enjoyed the classics since I read "David Copperfield" at age 10, and my favorite author is Jane Austen. On the other hand, I still have my comic book collection I accumulated as a child in the 1960s. In non-fiction, I seek out books/articles on frugal/simple living, sustainability, and community-building; this dates back to my enjoyment of the original Mother Earth News in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s, I added historical and procedural mysteries to my list of must-reads, e.g., Anne Perry and P.D. James. Now I am the oldest YA lover I know; in fact, I am the only YA lover I know over 25. My husband suggested I join a group on Goodreads so I could find people to talk to about YA, as well as ferret out new books to read. I started reading YA and juvenile lit as a way to monitor what my children read, not to mention to have a way to discuss the stories with them. I remember in particular my then-middle-school daughter and I enjoyed Gregor the Overlander. When Suzanne Collins put out a new book, we immediately bought and read it. That new book was The Hunger Games, and I have been hooked on YA dystopian/post-apocalyptic ever since. I once read an academic's assessment that YA dystopian/p-a books (unlike adult versions) are hopeful in the face of dreadful circumstances and ethical dilemmas. That's probably why I can read them and not adult versions, not to mention YA books are typically PG-13 rather than R or X. I am also a Christian and enjoy books on living the faith such as Living More With Less.
