I really love books and I'm hoping to have my own home library someday. I also like to write, though I've been struggling with it for years, even with a degree in Communication.

R.R. Adams | 157 comments Hi, my name is Rachael! I'm 26 and I read too much! Yes, that's possible. I was reading 300 books a year some years. My favorite series is the Wheel of Time. I started to read it at 12 years old and then fell into reading a lot of Y.A. books. The book that really helped me love Y.A. was "Lirael" by Garth Nix. I picked it up because her name ended in ael like mine. (I was about 11).

message 6258: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (beautiful-nerd) Hello, I'm Jessica.

I've not always loved to read like I do now. I used to hate it for I didn't understand and had a very hard time reading when I was in school. I had such trouble reading that I never got the story for I was struggling so to just read the words on the page. As I entered high school I tried reading something of my choice and found that I understood it and loved the book so much that I wanted to try and read another book to see if I liked it. soon I had read everything in the house and had to start buying books to read and keep me entertained. it had become something I love to do and it helps me get away from the world.

message 6259: by Syreeta (new)

Syreeta Moore (mystactral) Hey, I'm Syreeta. I'm a self published author and librarian. I went through a huge reading slump while I was in school, but now that my workload is more manageable, my passion for books is back again. I read a lot of YA (obviously), fantasy, and even Middle grade stuff. I venture into romance and sci-fi. I've been reading since I was able to, but really started picking up books by the dozen when I was about 9.

message 6260: by Lieke (new)

Lieke Faber Hey, my name is Lieke and I love to read. My favourite book at the moment is ready player one by Ernest Cline (the movie is horrible). My favourite book can change all the time though. And I think my favourite author would be J.K Rowling or Suzanne Collins.

Pètra (debeerpetra) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Pètra! I'm from South Africa and cannot choose a favourite book! My favourite books are those that fit in the Science Fiction, Historical Fiction and Fantasy genres. (And of course, anything YA). If I were to list all of my favourite authors, we would be here for a long time. I have way too many favourite authors and books. I'm generally known as my grade's walking, talking library. Because if you are looking for a book, you could just tell me what you're interested in and I'll find something for you to read.

I genuinely read in all genres, but have already listed my favourite :)

Hi Petra! I'm also from South Africa! :) It is hardly ever that I find another South African on GR. Since you seem to be quite the reader would you be willing to read my first self-published novel and do a review on it? It is called The Transfer and is ya romance mainly.

message 6268: by Ella (new)

Ella Enchanted (By Books) | 4 comments Hi everyone! This is my first time on here. My name is Ella and I'm a senior in high school. I LOVE young adult fiction but I have to be honest - I am quite picky when it comes to what a good series is. I often find myself growing bored in the sequel or a little later on in the series. Does anyone else feel like that? I just wanted to share with you a series that I have just finished. and OH. MY. GOD. I have never read something so good.
I just finished The remnant chronicles.
The kiss of deception, The heart of betrayel, and the beauty of darkness by mary e pearson. YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES!! I couldnt put it down! I just needed to share that with this young adult book loving community!
Mary E. Pearson

message 6269: by Regina (new)

Regina (princessgi) | 4 comments Hello! :) My name is Regina and I always loved reading. I had stopped in my high school days because I was bullied for it in middle school. I got out of the habit, and cared what other people thought. Now that I'm an adult, I have picked it back up and could not be happier. I love love LOVE YA, and thrillers and fiction. YA is my favorite. I love discovering new books and authors, it gives me such a great feeling. This is pretty limiting, but I'd have to say my favorite authors are Natasha Preston and Paula Brackston right now.

message 6270: by Jeanna (last edited Jan 13, 2020 10:33AM) (new)

Jeanna Smith | 13 comments Hello :) I'm Jeanna and I love reading. I'm from London Ontario. The first books I started with were R.L Stein's Fear Street. And although through high school and university I didn't read as much beside some trash magazines, lol. Around then I read a lot of James Patterson and Sandra Brown. A lot of Sandra Brown. Once I was out of school I started reading more, a lot more. And with my Kobo now I read everywhere and anywhere. I've recently gotten back into YA and love it. But I have read a variety of others. Thrillers, crime, Historical Romance, Romance of any kind really, NA, erotica ;) If someone tells me it's worth a read I'll add it to my ever growing list of TBR. I love series but hate when they get too long or too mushy in the romance department. Expample I loved ACOTAR but by the 3rd book and I'm sure this is not popular opinion but it just didn't do it for me like the first 2. I love Holly Black. The Folk of the Air is amazing and I got to meet her at a signing in Toronto this past year. I also love Leigh Bardugo (Six of Crows is great), Susanna Kearsley, Colleen Hoover and Chanda Hahn are a few authors I love.

My favourites are anything to do with Shadowhunters (Malec is OTP goals, like literally) and also Sarah J Maas' books are also amazing. I love any YA that's inspired by mythology or like just ancient Rome/Greece so any recommendations would be great! :)

message 6273: by Tatum (new)

Tatum Ebbeskotte (tatum_22) Hi! Im Tatum and I really like YA. Two of my favorite authors are Sarah J Maas and Marie Lu. Some personal favorite books include The Selection by Kiera Cass, The Rose Society by Marie Lu, and Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas.

J.C. Bratton Hello! I'm Goodreads author "JC Bratton." My real name is Jenny, and I'm a huge fan of thriller/mystery novels. I absolutely loved "The Woman in Cabin 10" & "In a Dark, Dark Wood" from Ruth Ware. On the young adult side, I grew up reading Point Horror novels, such as "Slumber Party" by Christopher Pike and "Twisted" by RL Stine. I recently read the "updated" version of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" by Lois Duncan. Interesting how they "modernized" the classic book. :) Looking forward to reading / interacting here!

My favorite book series are the Shadow Me series by Tahereh Mafi, All Souls by Deborah Harkness, and the Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan. I'm looking forward to seeing the suggestions this group has for new books as I'm always on the hunt for something new and different!

Monica Furtado | 1 comments Hello!
I am Monica, and I have been a YA reader before that was even a term I heard used anywhere.

I love anything that has to do with Vampires and Witchcraft.
Cinder was the first book that made me realize that I was an active YA reader, even though I had been picking up the books at random for years.

That being said, I am glad I joined this group.

message 6283: by Shay (new)

Shay (skycastlebooks) Hello everyone. I'm Shay. I recently just graduated undergrad (and desperately trying to get out of my retail job) and fell back into the love of reading for pleasure and not just for school so it's been a few years. When I was younger the YA genre wasn't really poppin so I grew up reading adult fiction (ie: anything Elizabeth Peters put out). So I feel like now that I'm an "adult" I'm catching up on all the good reads that I didn't get as a teen. I'm currently catching up on the Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater.

Krystal (krystallee6363) Hello, I'm Krystal :) Fave book of all time is The Three Musketeers but when it comes to YA I'm a big fan of The Medoran Chronicles, Throne of Glass, and most YA fantasy.

Looking forward to chatting to some fellow YA lovers and getting some great new recommendations! :)

message 6288: by Danny (new)

Danny Stoll (omesjtollie) | 2 comments Hey there, I'm Danny

I'm a father of three boys from the Netherlands who just happens to love YA books. Don't judge :P

I don't really have a favorite author as I enjoy quite a diverse array of books, but one that would come to the top of my head would be Brandon Sanderson.

I found this group in my suggestions and I see that you are currently reading or are going to read a lot of books that are on my personal TBR as well. Locally, I don't have a lot of people that share a love for the YA genre, so I figured I'd try and find some likeminded people on here.

I'll end things off with a top 3 of books I've read in 2019:
1: Sadie (Amazing!)
2: The priory of the orange tree
3: Small great things (no YA, but absolutely lovely nonetheless)

see you around,

Danny

message 6289: by alex (new)

alex (alexthebookish) Hey, I’m Alex! I love YA books, but quite honestly I’ll read anything I can get my hands on. As far as favorites go, I could sit here for hours contemplating what to put as favorite book. Therefore, I’ve decided to just put some of my favorite series from the last few years. Hunger Games, Divergent, Ranger’s Apprentice, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson (and all the spin offs, as well as the Kane Chronicles). I recently read ACOTAR and TOG, but I haven’t decided if they can go in my list of all time favorites. My favorite authors are Tamora Pierce, John Green, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, Rick Riorden, J.K. Rowling, and Veronica Roth. (I guess I should mention that I can’t spell names, if you haven’t already guessed that)

message 6290: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelb) Hi!

I have just joined this group because I love reading, mainly YA books. I'll see if I can join any BOTM discussions, but me joining is also mainly to be motivated to read a lot again this year and see if I can find any good books to add to my ever-growing TBR pile. I however am in university, so I can't always read a lot, and some booiks just really don't speak to me, so we'll see what I can do.

message 6291: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Rose | 1 comments Hello everyone! I am Charlotte,

First of all, I was super excited when I discovered this website and then I found this page and Hellooo, let's just say, I'm having to contain myself. Finally, I have found people as book mad as me.

It actually took me a while to get into reading, as I struggle with dyslexia, so, I take my time to read and write. However, once I found Jacqueline Wilson in my young teens, I absolutely adored her books. I read every book she wrote and when there were no more, I was like a lost puppy. I then struggled for a while, to find a book I wanted to read, so I’m hoping this group will be a god send.

A few more books that I have loved:

Holly Bourne’s the spinner club sequel, first things first with this one, feminists get right under my skin, they drive me nuts! However, this is due to my naive preconception that all feminists are in fact nuts. Which I am totally wrong about, sure, there are a fair few, but the majority of feminists don’t hate men they hate sexism, they fight for what we no longer think we need to fight for.

Jenny Han, ‘To all the boys I’ve loved before’ sequel, simply because I am a sucker for romance, for the romance that in real life, I would think is far too dramatic, give it to me in a book and I’ll turn to mush.

My all-time favourite book is ‘The way I use to be’ by Amber Smith. I was lost for words; this book is one of the most powerful books I have ever read. This story is so delicate and raw with deep emotional. I don't cry at books, but I cried at this, I got angry, I got sad I felt every emotion my body was capable to feel. I don't even know if I would call it a book, it's as if I was holding a heart or a broken soul, I cradled this book and when I was finished, I didn't want to put it down.

Anyway, I have just wrote you an essay introducing myself and I do apologise for that, but it’s great to meet you all!

message 6292: by Ara (new)

Ara (arareads) Hi, my name is Ara. I have too many favorite books to list so I’m going to keep it simple: my newest favorite is Rebel by Marie Lu, my all time favorite (hands down) The Poppy War by R.F Kuang. As for my favorite author, currently it’s a tie between Sabaa Tahir, Roshani Chokshi, and Renee Ahdieh.

I’m Bella but I usually go by Belle or Bee 🐝 :)

I’m a Freshman right now and I’m a huge bookworm.

I’m personally an open book (no pun intended 😉) so anything you want to ask about me: questions about my book selection, book recommendations based on what you’re going through, my music selection, why I read what I read, or anything else really, don’t be afraid to message me!

My favorite books as of right now are:

- Every Last Word (wow wow wow holy crap please go read it right now wow I’m speechless)

- All The Bright Places

- Turtles All The Way Down

- The Sun Is Also A Star

My favorite songs/artists as of right now are:

- Dodie (forever a favorite that will hold a special place in my heart)

- The Neighbored

- Two Feet

- Adam Melchor

- If I’m Being Honest by dodie

- Boys Like You by dodie

- Ready Now by dodie

- Lurk by The Neighbourhood

- Joyride by Adam Melchor

My spotify has some pretty cool playlists if I do say so myself so feel free to check it out!

https://open.spotify.com/user/1212434...

The way I name my playlists is loosely based off of Every Last Word, I pick a lyric that sums the playlist up perfectly and make it the name.

All Friend Requests welcomed!!!

Erica | 175 comments Hi all. I'm Erica. I'm seem to be able to read more and more YA so this group should be a good fit. My favourite book would have to be Sabriel by Garth Nix. However my favourite author is probably Kelley Armstrong for her ability to create different characters. That being said Holly Black has been giving her a run for her money since I read the The Cruel Prince.

Mia I'm Mia! I love many books, but I have a soft spot for clean romances with a gripping or dystopian plot, (Hunger Games, Lunar Chronicles series, The Selection,) and Fairytale or magical books, (Land of Stories, Fablehaven, Harry Potter, Goose Girl, Percy Jackson.)

I have many others that I love and I'm open to new recommendations! I'm new to groups and still getting accustomed to Goodreads features, so some pointers would be appreciated!
