message 5653: by Bridget (new)

Bridget Hi! I’m Blue, and I spend my non-study time reading or playing sport. I also love to write, though I primarily stick to fanfiction- unfortunately, I’m not hugely motivated.

My favourite genres are probably sci-fi/fantasy, although I am partial to the occasional contemporary YA novel.
I’m always hard pressed to choose favourites, but I’ll try and narrow it down:
Authors: Rick Riordan, Amie Kaufman, JK Rowling
Books: Harry Potter, The Tapestry, Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus

My TBR list at the moment includes:
• ACOTAR
• The Upside of Unrequited
• Call Me By Your Name
• The Book of Dust

I’ve just finished reading Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, and holy cow was that amazing!

If you have any recommendations for me, or just want to chat, let me know 😁

message 5659: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, everyone! Nice to meet all of you!

My name is Coco and I'm a twenty-three-year-old university student who lives in the Great White North, also known as Canada. Being in school, I have generally found it difficult to find time for me to read leisurely. I am finally able to incorporate avid reading back into reading, again! I'm very much looking forward to being able to discuss my favourite YA books with you all! :)

message 5662: by Gabi (new)

Gabi Hi everyone! My name is Gabi and I realized how much I loved YA when I looked at my book pile and saw that nearly all of them were in that category! I don't have a favorite author yet since I jump between books so often, but I definitely have a special spot on my shelf for my favorite books, and that spot goes to Red Queen and the Lunar Chronicles!

I hope to meet people who will discuss my favorite books with me and show me new ones that I didn't know about before!

message 5663: by Laren (new)

Laren Greetings, my name is Laren (like Karen but with an ) and I live in Memphis, TN. I have been stuck in a children's book genre rut for "fun" reading while finishing my doctorate and recently was reminded I like other genres so I decided to give some challenges a try to help me fall back in love with big people books for fun too. YA has long been a guilty pleasure of sorts and I look forward to feeling young again. When I'm not reading or writing and editing, I'm teaching math to autistic children and adults. I'm also late to the goodreads game in general and still learning my way around. So far a lot better than my reading journal and WAY more interactive!

message 5664: by Brita (new)

Brita Lavitichek | 1 comments Hello! My name is Brita and I've realized over time that pretty much every book I read falls under the YA category. I joined this group because I've had struggles meeting people who read as much/ love books as much as I do, and I figured this was a great way to meet new people! I am currently reading the Throne of Glass series, but I've read tons of other books too. I love talking about books and I may get really emotional about certain series (ACOTAR and Shatter Me are two recent ones I am in LOVE with but I've read so many others)
I hope I can meet people who share the same love of books as I do and share and receive book advice!
Have a great day :)

I joined this group because I recently read the first three books of the Shatter Me series and I loved them so much! I just had to discuss about it with other people and I happened to come across this group. I hope there’re other people out there who’ve read Shatter Me and wanna talk about it?

message 5684: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hi, I’m Jennifer! I’ve been on goodreads for a few years, but I just started using it socially a couple months ago. I’m a huge sucker for a good contemporary young adult book. I’m comfortable saying I have an addiction to reading here, because I know I’m not alone 😜 I’ll always be partial to physical books, but I also have a nook and a kindle (I might have a problem). I don’t know that I have a favorite book, because I feel like it changes constantly, and I have several favorite authors. For about a year in college, I read nothing but Sarah Dessen, and I’ll always have a soft spot for her books. John Green is another author who I love. Rick Riordan and the Percy Jackson series will forever be a series that I go back to. So before I ramble on forever, I’ll cool my jets. So, let’s be friends!

cobalt (mirthless) Hey there! I'm Mirthless or just Mirth for sorts, a 22-year-old HR student with too much time on their hands and a craving to read every book I can find. Or at least own it. My favorite genres are fantasy, historical, sci-fi, drama (lots of it), thriller, horror, YA and probably some other I forgot about. Also I'm trash for M/M Romance of any variety I can get my hands on.

And my favorite books tend to change every day, basically.

I'm also dabbling in writing my own stories, mostly paranormal/horror or medieval/fantasy settings.

I'd love to chat with someone about books and writing and anything under the sun, really.

Just finished: A Court of Frost and Starlight. Other than that, I love reading YA, fantasy, paranormal, some historical fiction and a few classics and poetry. Have been published in literary journals.

Also have my own book titled: Amaranth (Demon City Chronicles 1).

I love everything YA and my favourite authors are Cassandra Clare, Jessica Cluess, Sara Holland, Kerri Maniscalco, Victoria Aveyard, etc (yeah I’ll stop now since it is a long list.) From that list you can probably guess some of my favourite books so I won’t bore you with that information. I am also an aspiring writer but I personally won’t market that much (if at all) here. I love reading, writing (those two are kinda obvious), and making art.

Thank you for reading this and getting to know a little about me, have a wonderful day/evening/night.

message 5696: by MaddysBookNook (new)

MaddysBookNook Hi, my name's Maddy:) I spend majority of my waking hours between the pages of books and I wouldn't have it any other way! I am an avid consumer of tea and fantasy and I love discussing books with anyone who will listen ( unless they ask me about the book WHILE i'm reading it because that means war!!). My favourite series of all time is the Harry Potter series written by the most talented J.K Rowling, but I also love anything written by Rick Riordan. YA books are the best and I can't wait to be apart of a group that actually understands and relates to my book obsession:)

I'm so happy to join this group, I need people to discuss my favorites with!

Bri Little | 1 comments Hey folks, my name is Bri. I'm a writer, editor, and self-published author. I'm currently working as a community organizer but moving into digital media. I always have my nose firmly planted in a book, and my genres of choice are queer YA (of course) and thrillers. Lately I've been enjoying Karen McManus, Claire Kann, Tayari Jones, and Hanya Yanagihara.

message 5699: by K (last edited May 10, 2018 04:57PM) (new)

K (bookish_kayjinx) | 16 comments 😊 Hello, my name is Kimberly! I’ve been on goodreads for a few years, and have used it mainly as a way to catalog my books (owned, read, TBR). I have been in past groups and ultimately left them as they closed. After that, I had a hiatus when it come to being socially involved on GR, but now I am super excited to commence in this new group to keep me "reading-inspired" haha.

My favorite genres as High fantasy, retellings, and contemporary romance. When it comes to the e-reader to physical-copy reader debate, I am both, albeit, I love having the physical-copy (to fill my needs when it comes to personal library aesthetics), but I love having my tablet/iPad/kindle when I'm on the go.
Let's face it, it's easier carrying a thin electronic device compared to a 300+ hardcover or two (or four, no judgement here😉 ).

Also, please feel free to add me.

message 5700: by Daphne (new)

Daphne | 9 comments Hi. I’m Daphne. I love YA books. Reading is a big passion of mine and you’ll always see me with a book in my hand or on my phone. My favorite book of all time is The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I know what you’re thinking. She must love the book because of the author and his sappy romance novels. Please note that I read and watched The Notebook but didn’t shed a single tear. I love The Last Song as I cried 4 times while reading it. I’ve watched the movie twice and cried both times.
