Trisha | 19 comments I pulled this book off my local library's fantasy paperback shelf when I was in high school, read half of it, and returned it. Fast forward to many years later, and here I am, unable to remember the title.

Here's what I do remember:
-The main character was a vampire that had a body of a child, despite being very old. It think he was bitten when he was a child.
-His companions and him were traveling on some sort of ship. I do remember him surprising the rest of the crew by killing some sort of sea monster, and them discussing how he wouldn't be able to get any blood during the journey.
-There seemed to be some universe traveling aspect. I'm a bit fuzzy on this, but I seem to remember the main character being from "our world," and somehow ended up in this fantasy universe.
-The main push of the story seemed to deal with some sort of magical weapon akin to a nuclear bomb. I seem to remember a city getting obliterated and there being glass(?) left over on the ground.

Sorry if there aren't that many details. Thanks in advance for any help!

The Elusive (fridelain) | 65 comments Maybe, just maybe, one of "The Little Vampire" series by http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/... ?

Trisha | 19 comments Thanks for the reply, but no, it wasn't that. It was definitely not a children's novel, probably one of those numerous paperback fantasy books you see around.

Kate (katespofford) | 261 comments Some of the details sound a bit like The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice, at least, a boy vampire who spent some time on a ship. The stuff about the sea monster and fantasy stuff doesn't ring a bell though - this was more like historical fiction.
