Word count instead of pages

i proposed this as a suggestion in the feedback group the other week as an option where the page count is, to have a word count box - hopefully it'll be used in the future. I have noticed some authors/librarians putting it at the end of the description
if there is a print copy - that is what should be used...but a random reader going in and saying, oh my nook has 500 pages, i'm going to put that down is incorrect...because the page count changes with the font size used...and yes, i've seen that...i've also seen publishers jack up the font size in ebooks (i.e. the pdf versions) so that they can say their book is 100 pages, when it should really be like 70
Dee- not all ereaders have page counts that change with font size, etc. for example, the Kindle has fixed page numbers that are pegged to a paper edition. Please don't erase those!
i haven't erased any...i don't fool with page numbers for ebooks what so ever...i'm saying that i've seen books like that...someone had an ebook that had like 60k words pegged at 600+ pages...Cindy wrote: "Dee- not all ereaders have page counts that change with font size, etc. for example, the Kindle has fixed page numbers that are pegged to a paper edition. Since we don't have "pages" for ebooks it would be an indication of the title's size. Thanks.
