Your post is timely given the debate which was reignited per a recent Guardian article. There are some spot on pro and con arguments regarding self-publishing and the efforts and logistics involved. And to be sure, there are indeed traditionally published authors on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and sites such as these asking for Likes, reviews, and other exchanges. Many of them are colleagues and friends, and some have been published many times before.

Your words of caution are also valid, but we're in a new era with respect to the publishing industry because of social media. It also bears mentioning that landing on the bestseller list doesn't necessarily translate into a quality product.

It's easy to tag your book. Go to your book on Amazon, and scroll down to where it says, "Tag this product." There should be a field where you can enter tags. These are descriptors like "thriller" "exciting" "cozy romance" "business" etc. Pick what best defines your book, and what you think people will search for when you want your book to show up. Each person can add up to 15. You should do this for your book now so it has the tags you want, rather than relying on other people. Once you do that, we can increment those tags for you.
