SPOILER ALERT! What did you think of the ending?

you know when the force feild is blown up and the hover craft comes? what did you think of that? were you surprised? did you know what was going on?

i have to say i was SHOCKED and i was really confused! i had no idea what was going on, until i read

i was not surprised, and i knew what was going on. we all knew that there was unrest. people werent going to let the star of the rebellion die in the arena. there had to be a rescue plan somewhere in the plot. so it was quite expected.

Towards the end, around the time that Johanna cut the tracker out of Katniss's arm, I found the plot REALLY hard to follow. Around when Brutus and Chaff die, right before Katniss blows out the force field. I finally caught everything that was going on, after the THIRD time reading it...did anyone else think that way? Just thought of this...I wonder if Suzanne Collins made it hard to follow to emphasize the state of chaos they were all in.

I knew there was some sort of rebellion happening, but I thought it was just Plutarch, Haymitch and those contestants who were clearly trying to keep Peeta and Katniss alive. So it was a surprise to find out the rebellion was almost nationwide...

I was slightly surprised but I had a feeling there was something going on with District 12 and 13... idk. It did keep me wanting to read more though!!

It was really interesting and kept me reading but I have to say, its my least favorite book in the trilogy and the reason for that is the ending. Their in the middle of the games and then all of a sudden... EXPLOSION! GAMES END! I got a little ticked of but I still loved the book.

True, but then again, it is supposed to end in a cliffhanger like it did.

I was very confused at the ending. It ended very abruptly I thought. Luckily I already had Mockingjay to clear some things up!

I knew that something had to happen, that with all these people the games would not be normal and there will be a twist. But I never put my finger on that type of escape... it caught me by surprise...

I had a feeling there was significance in the forcefield when Beetee initially mentioned a "chink in the armour" 'so to speak'.

And it gradually built upon that, I actually for a long time didn't even believe they'd get as far as getting in to the Quarter Quell, but, once inside I knew something would happen. It was way too suspicious that so many other tributes were willing to keep Peeta alive and well, and treating Katniss like some sort of leader. It was becoming clear that an large scale uprising / revolt and rescue operation was in the works. (Also, upon seeing the hidden Mockingjay on Plutarch's watch, it was an obvious signal he was on her side)

It was just how and when the rescue would occur. So, I would say It wasn't surprising in the least, but definitely a satisfying end to the book, giving the right push for me to immediately open Mockingjay and begin reading. :)

loved it. i liked the whole climax, every single one of the twists and reveals, and you can't beat a good cliffhanger after Book 2, in my opinion...

Yep. Got really confusing that whole part, I agree. It was like it was written in a hurry.

I have to admit that I did not understand it right away. I had to close the book, think about what just happened for about 20 minutes or so and then reread the ending like 4 times to finally get it. I am talking about how the force field came down and the trap at the lake. It was like someone told Collins that she had finish the book in 2 pages and hence the hurried ending. But after I figured it all out, I thought it was very clever and was the mother of all climaxes

I bought this book with Mockingjay so I didn't have much suspense. *smug grin*

I got suspicious when they kept getting so much bread that didn't split up evenly, and each from different districts. I expected the victors to do something in the games against the Capital just out of sheer anger for being put back in. I didn't expect a mass "rescue" though. Good twist, so sad that my favorite (Peeta) wasn't saved. Of course that was a great plot point for Mockingjay so all is forgiven.
