Sabrina I like the Infernal Devices I like the old victorian era everyone was sweeter back then...

what do you think?

Veronica I love ID so much more then I do MI!

I like it because it's historical, set in 19th century London, and a little bit steampunk :)

Plus, I love Will so much more than any of the guys from either series ;)

Sabrina Yes someone who finally agrees with meee!

I love Will too!

Veronica Sabrina wrote: "Yes someone who finally agrees with meee!

I always fall for the misunderstood/unlucky guy and Will is exactly that! Haha.

Brittany I love them both so much. I dont think i like either book more than another as separate entities. I love both ID and TMI as a whole. I love learning about Will and then reading about Jace and seeing his legacy carry on, as well as the other characters. Like how Clary is the ancestor of Charlotte. I just find that wonderful! :) But if i HAD to choose I would choose ID over TMI. Just because I love imagining Victorian Era London.

Tania I agree too. I like TMI, but I completely love the ID! The Characters, the time period, the plot... everything just makes it completely perfect.

Megan Its really hard to choose. I think I like ID better because things got all angsty in CoFA. But we'llsee which one I like better when Clockwork Princess comes out.

Alexandra I love The Infernal Devices a lot more than the Mortal Instruments . . . which is saying a lot because I love the Mortal Instruments. Victorian Era + Will Herondale + Magnus Bane + Masquerade Balls + Horsedrawn carriages = positively amazing.

Right?! What's the point of reading a book if it doesn't take you to another world? That's why I don't really like books set in modern times or in the "real world".

Dee I LOVE them exactly the same, they are both incredibley good, but there are still major differences between the two, that make it impossible for me to choose between them. <3

message 11: by Shay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Shay well, I read ID first and I liked it. So, when I read MI right afterwards, part of me was thinking "This is just like ID...and Jace reminds me of Will; it's okay..."

So, I do prefer ID
:)

Miriam Kay Infernal devises all the way

george ☽ Brittany wrote: "I love them both so much. I dont think i like either book more than another as separate entities. I love both ID and TMI as a whole. I love learning about Will and then reading about Jace and seein..."

Yep, i agree! but i would only choose ID over TMI if I absolutely HAD to!

Shannon I'm definitely looking forward to ID more! I will still get the next TMI book...but I feel the last book kind of ruined Jace and it makes me pissed off! It doesn't seem like there is much to look forward to unless Clare fixes it! whereas ID we have the Will/Tessa/Jem love triangle to look forward to and the suspense is killing me! I am so heartbroken for Will...I feel a really good connection to the characters, Will in particular, and the heartbreak is notable! I love ID!

David This question is stupid, sorry because ID and MI are one in the same one just takes place in a earlir time.

Veronica David wrote: "This question is stupid, sorry because ID and MI are one in the same one just takes place in a earlir time."

They are not one in the same thing... They have completely different characters with their own troubles and their own plot.

Well yeah no book is the same just like City of Ashes is not like City of Fallen Angels But they all follow the same background they aren't different like Twilight by is different Fallen by Lauren Kate. ID and MI both complete each other's plot. Idk if you read the entire Narnia series, but I did and there are seven different books, each one has a different plot, characters and conflicts. But they are all part of the SAME thing all the books are one in the same meaning there is an overlaying plot that all the books share. Same with MI and ID Of course they are different but they are intertwined in such a way that you also feel connected to the MI while reading ID. Like Magnus Bane Camille the vampire, the Silent Brothers, the respected family names the reference to the Pandoranium club the conflicts of Downwolrders and Shadowhunters, the Love Triangle

In MI the Love Triangle was Clare-Simon-Jace.
In ID it's Tessa-Jem-Will

So when I say that you can't compare ID and MI to say which one is better as if they are two different books by two different authors I think I’m right.

I consider ID exactly what it is the PREQUEL to MI!

Sabrina Shannon wrote: "I'm definitely looking forward to ID more! I will still get the next TMI book...but I feel the last book kind of ruined Jace and it makes me pissed off! It doesn't seem like there is much to look..."

I feel the same way poor Will!!! ID is soo much better in my opinion but I will also still read all the MI books

Veronica They are companion novels/series.

Emily I thought I wouldn't like ID at first. Not a big fan of historical era but it turns out i love it!!!
Huge fan of the TMI from the beginning. And I agree, both the series kinda complete each other. It's fun to figure out the clues Cassandra leaves behind each book for us to find out!

Abigail Jones I like ID more than MI, I hadn't thought I would, but I'm so in love with Will and the Victorian era it's not funny, not to mention Britain, haha. It's a pity there's only one more ID book 3 :P

Stephanie I kinda love both but, it may just be because I'm still off the rush of Clockwork Prince, but I'm starting to like the Infernal Devices better. There's not as much going on so it's easy to follow but still surprises me. I still love the Mortal Instruments and can't wait for City of Lost Souls but I'm leaning towards the Infernal Devices right now!

Michelle Knox Really love both series, but I do admit that the Mortal Instruments captivated me more. Sorry but I am totally Team Will and can't wait for ClockWork Princess.

Veronica Michelle wrote: "Really love both series, but I do admit that the Mortal Instruments captivated me more. Sorry but I am totally Team Will and can't wait for ClockWork Princess."

Will is in ID...

Sabrina Veronica wrote: "Michelle wrote: "Really love both series, but I do admit that the Mortal Instruments captivated me more. Sorry but I am totally Team Will and can't wait for ClockWork Princess."

ya... i'm kinda confused by the response but i have to agree team will and can't wait for clockwork princess either!!

I love the ID way better than MI I dont even know but I love the setting of the victorian era i think its better than the modern setting of MD cant wait for clockwork princess!!!!!

"Way" Better?

Sabrina yesssss

biblioceraptor I love them both and I feel like you can't have one series without the other, but I do so love TMI a wee bit more because it's set in Victorian England, so they would have AMAZING ACCENTS, plus the clothes and furniture were waaaay more awesome back then, and Will and Jem OMG why are they so amazing?!

Sabrina hahaha I totallly agree with you, but I think you mean Infernal Devices hahaa not TMI....

Chelsea Appiah-kubi Sabrina you are so knit picky I know what she means but I do agree Infernal Devices is amazing so is Will and Jem <3

Arya i luv the mortal instruments but im scared to say soo cuz no one agrees with me

Veronica Arya wrote: "i luv the mortal instruments but im scared to say soo cuz no one agrees with me"

It just depends on preference. You probably prefer modern fiction while the rest of us like historical/fantasy.

Michaela I love both series but I love The Mortal Instruments slightly more. When Clockwork Angel first came out I heard a lot of people saying it was better than TMI and I kinda didn't agree but after reading Clockwork Prince I can see where they are coming from.

Hannah I like MI more possibly because I read it first but I love both books a little to much i think I'm in love with them

Michelle Knox ID and THI are great reads for anyone who loves YA fantasy. And I'll step out and say that Cassandra Clare has created a little something fantastic for whatever your preference, whether it be a modern urban setting or a classically embellished setting. Not to mention she knows how to reel you in with really hot, badass guy characters.

Hannah Cassandra Clare best author ever

ID has one of the best love triangles. It's so dynamic, intense, complicated...

veronica wrote: "ID has one the best love triangles..."
i completely agree, one of the main reasons i love ID better then TMI is because i feel that TMI didnt really have a love triangle, it was pretty obvious who clary was going to end up with, but in ID i have no idea who tessa is going to end up with at the end of clockwork princess or even if she is going to end up with any of the two!

Alexa i will admit it I LOVE TMI MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love both will and jace but the love triangle is to much for me handle i like love triangles but tdi has the biggest triangle ever like jem or will (PICK WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!) which gets me super mad at tessa i'm i the only one that prefers clary over tessa cuw tressa needs to pick (don't kill me just what i think)i get that she loves them both but wow. and tmi has more talk of other creature that get mor involved like vamps, wolves, and fairies! in tdi we haven't talk to one that i remeberand i am getting tired of all the proper language in tdi like or classy whyatever u wanna call it ok done so....again don't kill me

I actually prefer the old language. I don't like how people speak nowadays, haha. And the language in ID is NOTHING compared to most historical books. I'm sure many people actually still speak like that today in England.

I think old language is great for learning (increasing one's vocabulary and what-not). I think alot of people don't like it because they don't/can't understand it.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the ID series by far! like veronica said a "lot of people dont understand it..." for ya readers, cassandra has captured the feel of the Victorian language and added it to our modern language, therefore making it easy for her readers to understand.

Veronica Sns wrote: "I like the ID series by far! like veronica said a "lot of people dont understand it..." for ya readers, cassandra has captured the feel of the Victorian language and added it to our modern language..."

Yeah, Cassandra blended the modern and old language well :)

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

yep, thats why i like id so much i love how tessa speaks its much better then the slangs used in tmi e.g. ass hat haha.

Pavlina Read more sleep less blog both of them are good but i prefer mortal instruments!!!!

Tabitha I loved them both, but Mortal Instruments held my attention better.

message 47: by RP (new) - rated it 5 stars
