It is the final game of American football for the season. The hype is like the final game of the World Cup.

I'm almost done with Persuasion. After that, I will re-read the section of Night I assigned to my 9th grade English class to have read for tomorrow. I haven't tried Nora Roberts - I should, I know many people who love her. Good luck writing!

American professional football's final championship game. Major hype, huge TV commercial day. I think the TV commercials are the best - they all compete for the funniest, most memorable commercial. Sorry, I forget this is a world-wide book readers site!

Its the football championship. Big deal here in the States.
I'll be reading "The Stand" by Stephen King. Its just my husband and me, so we invited my dad over so my husband has someone else who's interested in it. haha!

I remember Night. I love Persuasion. The letter is so romantic. I hope you are enjoying it.

It's not my favorite Austen, but Persuasion is wonderful; I like it better every time I read it.

I read and watched at the same time. It was a great game. Very evenly matched.

I actually did end up watching quite a bit of the game (more for the commercials and half-time show though) and didn't read a ton. I corrected some student papers first, which was a priority. I am enjoying Persuasion (haven't gotten to the letter yet), but it's not going to be my favorite Austen. My heart belongs to Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth.

Persuasion is my favorite too with P&P making a close second. I think it is my favorite because the characters are older. They have made mistakes and have learned from those mistakes. I love book 1 and 3 of the Pamela Aidam series. Book 2 was good but it seemed very gothic to me.

Yes, I am quite the party animal.
I loved Madonna's performance and the guy who squatted before the touchdown (of course for that I had to watch the replay).

Maybe the equivalent here, in Europe may be the European Soccer Challenge that happens every 4 years? It´s very big event but it wouldseem not so big as the Superbowl.

The Superbowl happens every year here. We have football divided into two divisions, the NFC and AFC. I don't exactly how teams were divided into the NFC or AFC, but they play each other and eliminate to get to the Superbowl championship. Then, each side, the AFC and the NFC have a team representing them, (whoever came out on top in the playoffs), and the AFC and NFC play against each other for the Superbowl trophy, and ultimately, the title of best team for the year. There are 32 football teams in America, and only two can play in the Superbowl. So, basically throughout the year, they eliminate each other to get to the Superbowl championship, which happens every year. Does that help? I think I said everything correctly...haha!

It´s not exactly like here, but our craze is soccer, so a bit different. I have an american friend that lived here for many years and she always said to me that Americans found soccer boring, that they like action, and that soccer is a bit still, not enough going on to catch the attention - is it true?

Chariot racing?

Where do you get to see jousting and chariot racing? I am fairly curious about it.....
