For some reason, I keep thinking about the character of Rachael in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (which was the inspiration for the movie Blade Runner) by Philip K. Dick. It's sci-fi, it's dystopian, it's speculative, but it's definitely an adult novel.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson. Much more serious in tone as far as the narration. It will keep you interested.
If you like the fairy tale spin-off, you might like Sisters Red and Sweetly, both by Jackson Pearce.
Completely forgot about this series until I was cleaning off my bookshelves. The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. Great new (2006) version of Alice in Wonderland.

Kristine, yes, that's what I was thinking about. Without giving it away to others, the whole 10% thing reminded me of Cinder being Cyborg.
I loved SISTERS RED!!! SWEETLY wasn't as good for me though.
