February 2012 Group Read - Sheepish!

This is where we'll be discussing this months group read! As I'm late to the digital party, my copy is arriving via snail mail today. Cannot wait! I had sheep as a kid.

Alright, while I haven't finished this yet, I want to know what other people think. I think this is very funny - and while so far it ALWAYS seems to be lambing season, I am learning a great deal about sheep farming. She makes it interesting - I actually wish she would throw in MORE statistics!

Just back from hospital after pretty heavy surgery I can't do much else then read. Amazon was so kind to send me the kindle edition of Sheepish. I've started at once and think it's funny. Many sheep around where we live.
As I'm a spinner I usually see wool walking about in the fields.
I liked the episode in the book where spinners, knitters and weavers were described. I've read about 25% of the book.

so far I love the book. I am hoping to finish it up while on holiday next week. Incredibly funny.

Just reading about the environmental differences in wool production versus acrylic or cotton production makes me vaguely curious where I can get wool underwear. It's changing my opinion about clothing the way Animal,Vegetable, Miracle changed my thoughts about food. Being a knitter, I already loved wool, and having had sheep as a kid, I already adored sheep (even before I became a knitter). I'm pretty impressed that she is able to convey as much data as she does while making it interesting and funny though! (Animal, Vegetable, Miracle was slightly less interesting and only occasionally amusing).

I'm kind of curious what non-knitters would think of this book. My best friend's fiancee in England loves sheep, but doesn;t knit. I'm going to have to send him a copy and see what he thinks...

I finished this book over the weekend and thought it was great! It was sooo funny. On to read next :)
