basically there is probably a reason, motive or book that made you start reading, share it with us and you will be surprised by how common these reasons are!!

i started because of curiosity, i was curious of why my making a big deal out of a book, thank god for my curiosity !!!

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I started because when I was 6-7 we started going to the library every month (or so...) with school in first grade. So we had to read the books and I pretty much fell in love with reading right away. I was one of the few people who actually loved going to the library and read the books! ♥

Jennifer (bookwormjenn) | 43 comments When I was little my mom used to tell me a story at bedtime or read to me. I think that the imagination behind books and beginning school made me enjoy and come to love reading. :)

Elena (summerday) | 8 comments I started when I was around five or six. When I didn't know what to do at home, I'd pick these little books and start reading them. Or ask my dad to read them.
At about six-seven years, even though I'm Italian, my mom started buying me English books, because I was already attending an English school here in my hometown. I loved them, and I used to read them four or five times each.
So I kept on reading both Italian and English, and I guess that's why now I'm on English full-on. (:

Waqas (vickyrossoneri) | 46 comments I studied in a hostel away from home since I was 6 yrs old. The distance from my hometown to my hostel was a lot & the journey took around 23 hrs through train. I started buying comics to pass the time during the journeys & gradually I moved on to storybooks with pictures & then novels. It's been 16 yrs since then & my love for books has reached new heights. I remember once stealing an Enid Blyton book from the school library. In my defense, we were not allowed to borrow a book & were only allowed inside the library 30 mins a day!! Don't worry, I returned the book without anyone knowing :)

I'm a late bloomer here I see xD I was around 9-10 years old and hated books. In my defense my mom picked books up like "Princesses Don't Play Soccer". So when we stumbled over a Harry Potter book that didn't cost anything at all, I told my mom to buy it so she would shut up. It was a coincende I went to the theater with my bro and dad five days later to watch the 5th Harry Potter. And I remember sitting when the movie was over thinking, "I have that book." So I went home and started reading.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) "I have that book" *lightbulb goes up* something like that, Em? xD

Elena (summerday) | 8 comments Haha the same happened to me with Narnia.

I'd seen The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe book in my school library and decided I wanted to read it. (I was in Primary school, can't remember the year.)
Then one day I went with my mom to watch Chicken Little at the cinema, and just before the movie started there was a promo. And I was like, "hey, mom! it totally sounds like the book I'm reading!", and then, "hey, mom! I'm sure it is!" Then the title of the movie came out and I was like, "HEY MOM! I WAS RIGHT IT'S THAT BOOK!!"
In the mean time my mom had almost gotten her arm broken during my several attemps of catching her attention, but I was content with my geniality at having accidentally picked a famous book.
hahaha

Waqas (vickyrossoneri) | 46 comments Twilight was the first paranormal book I read. I don't know why some people hate it.

Emily V (xemilyx) | 41 comments My mum tells me that I was reading by the time I was 4 only books like winnie the pooh and the lion king though. When I was about five I got bored of baby books and (believe it or not) progressed onto classics. I have no clue what made me want to read old dusty books on my mums shelf but she said she came into my room one and I was halfway through Heidi Heidi by Johanna Spyri . I was one strange child. When I was about seven I read Jane Eyre and little woman over and over again. It wasn't till high school I discovered PNR. Yes my first was twilight and now I'm obsessed (with PNR not twilight). I thank you O sparkly vamps! So there you have my life story :)

I know me too!! I love Twilight for what it was to me. Looking back yeah the writing cold be better and some parts of the book could have been better too. However, that was Stephine's first book. Of course it wouldn't be that picture perfect. That book got me really reading and had me head over heels for vampires. Also I try to never compare books to others. I let the work stand for itself
