This was an excellent story, but I thought it was more about teen angst. The trauma and drama of suddenly becoming aware of one's appearance both in the physical sense and the popular.

Charlie was simply the bit of drama that gave the story its kick and causing Sara to realize what was truly important in her life.

Yes, there were some nice bits in here about Sara's protectiveness.(view spoiler)[ And I enjoyed the town rallying together to find Charlie. (hide spoiler)]
