Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Feb 10/12....4.5 stars

I loved this book! I am loving the ancient historic ties and greek gods. definmitely yummy!!

Kyrian is a Dark-Hunter that goes after the really bad guys. He has traded his soul to seek vengence on his wife, but unable to kill her he now walks the world in the shadows of night.
Amanda has powers that she is unaware of or unwilling to admit too. She does not believe in the supernatural, or dark things. She is an accountant and feels that she is not a part of her wild gypsy family. (Selena from Fantasy Lover is her sister) These two unlikely people get paired together in a very unlikely situation. As a result there are laughs aplenty, great romance, and a lot of the supernatural!
These two characters are perfect for each other. Hunter does not give his trust easily, and Amanda is not even aware of her appeal.

Cant wait to start the next one.

Excellent book, I love both main characters and this new twist with Cat's past and now her future... and Bones, ooh Bones... *swooon*
I liked it that this time it was Bones who suddenly had enough of everything... I'm not sure how I feel about Mancheres... and I sooo want to know what's the deal with uncle Don.
And Cat's mom!, I didn't see that one coming, oh Justina, you were a pain in the ass before but now?
Vlad is awesome... I wish I was friends with Dracula, wouldn't it be cool?
Can't wait for the next book in the series...

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Thank you! :D

Ladies I will be reading my freespace book after I finish Eternal Captive. I have 3 sick kids right now though and they don't go back to school/nursery until Thurs. The joys :)
Fortunately my 4th round of antibiotics and 2nd lot of steroids has made me better...

I should be back to my normal reading speed soon, unless the little ones get clingy again.

Has everyoone been having a good week? Read any interesting books (other than the ones for our shelves), anything you'd like to recommend?

Lili | 297 comments Sorry for the delay... I'll be reading Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men by Molly Harper for the Ghost shelf.
Next 4 weeks will be crazzzzy! at wort so I might not stop by as often but I'll try to finish every book on time.

Hey Jade, sorry to hear you're not doing so good but keep up girl!, this too shall pass... don't worry about the game for now, remember it's still early for us to win anyway, we have to make all the other teams believe they have a chance at it!

By the way, I remember someone asked if we had read any good books lately and I must say I have and I want to recommend it to you.
Last Friday a friend from work lent me Love Virtually by Daniel Glattauer, it's an amazing story!, and it's written... ummm... how to explain?
the story isn't told by any of the main characters, you read about what happens through the emails they send each other and that's it!, only emails... that's the whole window through wich you can "see" the story.
The dialogues are witty and fun and smart and... the whole book was pretty intense!
Just wanted to let you know about it. I do hope someone else reads it so we can chat about it.
It was a pleasant surprise, I wasn't expecting to like it so much.

ooooh! and happy Valentine's day!!!

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane Finished 15/2/12 3★

I had issues with this book but saying that I liked the second half - well more than the first half.

I'm not sure about the language or names, it took me a while to get used to that and I'm not convinced I liked Chess at all. I didn't find anything attractive about Terrible or Doyle or...

She's a functioning Junkie. Plain & simple, although with the amount of drugs she puts away I'm surprised she didn't OD in the first half of the book let alone be able to pick locks and accomplish a fraction of what she does in the latter half.

The turning point for me was in the tunnels. I can't say I liked it or loved it but I will read the next one just not today or tomorrow...

Lots of people love this book, I just don't see it. That doesn't mean I wont come to appreciate it. I just don't yet.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Did everyone have a good valentine's day? We picked up our new car it's a Peugeot 406 Estate. Hubby surprised me with a bouquet of pink roses. He couldn't find any Lilies & was really disappointed but I love them anyway. He's promised to take me shopping for a new handbag too :)

message 132: by Katie (new)

Katie (kahneks) | 98 comments I didn't even know such a thing existed...this BINGO challenge has been great! Peugeot...how do you say that? Pew-go? Roses and a new handbag doesn't sound too bad at all!!! I got some new earrings,a gift certificate for a massage, and a Vera Bradley (black and yellow) tote for going to WSU Shocker basketball (Wichita State University...where I went to college) games!

It's French and usually pronounced Pur-Zhoh although in Scotland it's more like Pew-zhoh :)

Sounds like you did very well! Are you a basketball fan then?

message 134: by Katie (new)

Katie (kahneks) | 98 comments Oh, neat...I have been trying to teach myself French online using the BBC Language website. I can hail a taxi and ask directions. This week is purchasing tickets and buying presents...After I finish the French course I am going to try the Russian one! It is free and it is kinda fun...

Yes, I am a baseball, college basketball, and a NASCAR fan! I love the KC Royals (baseball), KU Jayhawks (basketball), and Kasey Kahne is my fave NASCAR driver. I hear soccer is a big sport in Europe; is that true - or are you a fan of sport?

message 135: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Yes, of course, we just call it football! My hubby has a season ticket for Celtic and we live within walking distance from their stadium. I can't claim to know anything about any of them. We do watch F1 racing, my eldest son loves it!

Good luck with French, I still remember most of it from school, enough to get by anyway. I've been picking up a little Spanish here and there. If I was to choose any language to learn it would probably be Latin :)

That was exactly my reaction to #1 Michelle, even gave it 3★ as well. I took a fair while to read #2, which I gave 4★ and fell in love with Terrible. But haven't committed to #3 yet, which I've heard very mixed reviews for, but everyone agrees Terrible is great. That's just it, I still don't like Chess, but do love Terrible. So that makes it a very uncomfortable read for me.

And I love Peugeot cars, some years ago one of my ex-bosses had one, I think a 406 and it was lovely. Not bad on the roses and bag too :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't immediately fall in love with the series. I'm glad it gets better even if Chess remains the same.

Did you have a good Valentine's day, Sandra?

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) I have now finished my free space read
One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost 5*

I loved this book! some of the one lines Frost comes out with are hillarious and have often had me choking on my coffee with laughter. Cat Crawfield is a half-vampire Special Agent working for the Government to rid the world of the rogue undead. In the previous book we see Cat meet Bones who taught her everything she knows and for whom she fell head over heels. In this book he is back but will be forgive her for walking away from him? Obviously these two are meant for each other, but the course of true love mever runs smoothly.

This book has lots of action, a bundle of laughs and lots of HOT scenes!! I can't wait to read the next one in the series :)

Jade, my love to you, your hubby and your family at this sad time.

message 149: by Katie (new)

Katie (kahneks) | 98 comments 55%; this one is taking me a little longer...it is mainly about "street smart" people so a lot of conversations I am reading twice to make sure I am getting it. I plan to be finished late tonight! The reason I am struggling I think is because the main character isn't making very good decisions and I don't have her background so I can't feel sorry for her yet; but I am sure when (Chess and Terrible's) their backgrounds are revealed that I will have empathy and understand their actions better. Hopefully some of Terrible's behaviors with rub off on Chess - meaning his protecting children that have been dealt a bad hand like he did and I am sure Chess was...
