R4: Team #12 ~ SOS Disciples [THIRD PLACE]

4 stars 3/4/2012
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the moment I picked it up. Hearne's writing is so natural that it picks you right up in the story and sweeps you along. A rollicking good read. It is funny and interesting. It features a Druid in the US in modern times. There are other fantasy creatures like witches and were wolves. Best of all there is a comedic hound. This is just a very fun book. Will continue with the series.

I had been told to read this book by several people. With all the hype, and the movie coming out, i decided to read this.
It wasn't what I expected. It seems like a combination of Lord of the Flies, Survivor the TV show, post apocolyptic Harry Potterish(with the magic meds and evil dogs). It did keep me engaged and was interesting. Not sure if I will continue with the other two anytime soon.

Edited the request to include both stamps!
Well done ladies, that's us up to date except for the new shelf :)

I've been reading pretty crappy stories lately, so I enjoyed this one a little more because of that, but it also made me read way too fast.

Very cute story, funny and I could totally relate to Keri and even Joe, family trips are messy and loud and they can drive any sane person to the very edge, especially when there are a few children in the mix, but that's also what makes them so good!
I liked Joe since the beginning, he was so sweet and naughty, and his family-first policy is quite appealing.
I culd see myself in Keri's shoes, being dumped in the woods, no blackberry, laptop or any other gadget??... my hands start twiching just thinking about it!
I think this book shows something really interesting that's happening nowadays, Joe told Keri he wanted to be a stay-at-home dad and write when he could... women thrive to succeed, first school, then work but we still want a family.
As a teacher, I see more and more dads who are in charge of the kids and the house while the mom is the one working.

I was going to start reading this last week but got held up reading Historical Romance books for another challenge....not enough hours in the day

A couple of teams are waiting on the same shelf for a win, it could get interesting depending on what shelf Mr.Randomiser chooses next!
If either of our shelves is the next shelf prepare to read quickly, we'll be up against another team for the win! Might be an idea to have a look for books before hand if you get a chance... :D

I think these should work Katie :)

for 2011 it would be

I doubt it would change over the next few days, especially Angelfall I've saved that for about 3 rounds of bingo.. :)

for 2011

might change when the shelf is called....really depends on my mood at the time.....

I will be interested to read your review, I started this book and had to re-shelf it, just couldn't get into it!

Another great book from Nalini Singh. I was intrigued after the last book about what would happen to Brenna after the brutal attack she faced, and how she would get over it. It took me a while to warm to Judd but when I did...BOY!! I so wish my husband had TK skills, they could come in very handy ;) book 4 here I come.

I am a Sherlock fan...going to Baker Street as a pre teen sparked my love for this literary character. I first read this book about 4 years ago and was hooked.
If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan, it's a natural - Laurie R. King captures Holmes as a living, breathing "he actually lived" character that stays true to the original.
The story takes place in 1915, and is about the life of an incredibly smart fifteen-year-old girl, who becomes an apprentice to the famous Sherlock Holmes who was retired at the time. Mary Russell and her mentor, Holmes, embark on an adventure that takes them from their home in the Sussex Downs, to Wales, and eventually Palestine. The book is wonderfully written, and contains everything a person could want for a good read. The characters are unexpected and intriguing, as well as deeply mysterious. The combination causes an intimate relationship between reader and characters, and continues to surprise as the book develops.

I love Nalini's angel's because they are so deliciously dark unlike most, she has such a way with her story telling that you can almost imagine yourself in her worlds.
I really enjoyed this anthology, Angel's Pawn I read prior to the books and although I enjoyed it I found it very different from the series as a whole.
I loved the little bit of insight into Deacon & Sara's relationship and her decision to become Director of the Guild.
My favourite story had to be the last one however, not only for the relationship & character growth between both Jessamy & Galen but for the little glimpses we got at everyone else. I loved the little peek at Raphael as a boy and learning how Ilium came to be called Bluebell. There are so many good bits in this one that I would highly recommend it to anyone who reads the series.
Another thing - this series has some of the most gorgeous covers :)

Off to bed now s I'll see the shelf in the am. Happy book hunting & reading :)

I am going to read

No winner for this week but next week will be interesting ....over on Q&D someone has analyzed the cards and 85% chance of a winner next week....
I think our team if all is read has a chance at 3 possibles for a win...
Happy reading ladies

Every team now has the opportunity to win next week, if they complete their current shelfs. If we finish both our current shelves then we can win via Vampires but once again we are up against another team!
I think Angels is the only shelf that can be called and result in a win without a reading war, it should be interesting next week, of course there are a few shelves still to be called that wont cause a win yet :)
