Edward Farber (edfarber) | 11 comments My new historical novel, Elixir of the Incas, is set in the raucous world of entertainment in 1890s New York. Billy Brannigan, handsome, brash and savvy, arrives in New York in 1893. Just turned 20, he seeks stardom on the gas-lit stages of New York’s bawdy music halls and vaudeville theaters after spending years honing his skills and learning the ballyhoo needed to pedal the cure-all medicine, Elixir of the Incas. When his partner, Daniel, arrives, Billy begins his quest for fame and fortune. The duo mix with talented acts, willing showgirls, colorful songwriters, and meet many of the famous personalities of the fabulous Gilded Age (John L. Sullivan, Victor Herbert, and Tony Pastor, among others). Each finds love but discovers that love, like life, seldom follows the path chosen. And when those paths diverge, their friendship comes crashing to a halt.”

E.L. Irwin (elirwin) | 4 comments Out of the Blue by E.L. Irwin
This is a New Adult Contemporary Romance, set in Cody, WY. This is my first published novel; yeah I'm kind of excited about that.

KatyBeth Reilly, horse-trainer extraordinaire, is capable, responsible and hard-working -- she hates backing down in a fight. When she meets -- completely by chance -- Hollywood heartthrob, Asher Fitzpatrick, she decides she wants nothing to do with him. He's arrogant, self-assured, and seemingly very assured of her.

Asher doesn't like taking no for an answer -- hes' determined to get to know Katy -- so he makes a couple of phone calls that set the stage for their second meeting. When Katy comes face to face with Asher again, she knows she's going to need help this time -- not because she feels out-maneuvered, but because for the first time in her life she knows she doesn't want to fight.

Out of the Blue is a little like a Bissell; it's steamy, but clean.

Noorilhuda | 51 comments Catharsis by Noorilhuda

GENRE: psychological thriller, mystery and suspense, women sleuths, amateur sleuths, child abuse, pedophilia, women's fiction, serial killer

SYNOPSIS:
Ten year old Daniel has been missing for more than a week.  His family and the police have all but lost hope of finding him alive. Then a strange old man enters the precinct at the 99th Avenue and declares he knows where the boy is - and who he’s with. The lead detective on the case, Aurora Fox, is skeptical. Is the hemophiliac puppet master, Maxwell Caine, part of the puzzle or the solution - and why does he look so dolled up?

Dark tale of a tough-as-nails detective, a curious old man and a persistent district attorney - all trying to catch a pedophile..........a serial killer.

Fear is relative.
What would you do to be free?

Contemporary psychological thriller 'Catharsis' is not a happy read. It has no happy people. It is dark, depressing and short. It has the best and worst of human nature.

Readers and reviewers are requested not to reveal any spoilers.

P.S. NOTE: Sexual violence is suggested and is subtle but this is a book about how adults live through abuse.

Here is my latest. What happens when the glass slippers pinch Cinderella’s toes? When Jaine Andersen proposes a new marketing role to the local amusement park, general manager Dylan Callahan charms her into filling Cinderella’s glass slippers for the summer. Her reign transforms Jaine’s ordinary life into chaos that would bewilder a fairy godmother. Secretly dating her bad boy boss, running wedding errands for her ungrateful sisters, and defending herself from the park’s resident villain means Jaine needs lots more than a comfy pair of shoes to restore order in her kingdom. First in the Storybook Valley series, a blend of sweet romance, chick lit, and fairy tale fun.

The characters are larger than life, beautiful, glamorous and glitzy, but obviously have their demons and secrets. Getting to know those secrets and peeling back the layers of dirt and grit that lie beneath all of the superstar glamour is the fun of the story, and readers will really appreciate this incredible journey.

If that interests you, here's the link.
