Are you getting on better with your new camera now, Sierra?

I've given up on the preset programmes on my new Olympus because I found I take perfectly good photographs with the manual settings. My wife says I would, I was once a prize-winning photographer. I'd forgotten that, but that's how I just know what the settings should be. Anyway, I'm having fun now that I've decided I haven't wasted my money.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments I haven't done a thing with it beyond taking a few "auto" pics the first day to try it out. Reading the manual is still on my to-do list; I keep getting sidetracked. I'm not someone who takes a lot of pictures.

And I've given up on Photoshop. I got one of the books that's supposed to teach a person how to use it (nothing is intuitive) but it's tedious and assumes knowledge on my part that I don't have. The book has been returned to Amazon.

If an inept old bag like me has to spend time studying anything, it'll be the Scrivener program Kat got me to buy due to her initial enthusiasm for it.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Okay, I just took some shots (again, just point and shoot) and can say without hesitation that this little camera is a keeper -- delivering pictures that are far superior to what I was getting with my old Sony. Even shooting into bright sunlight the pics came out fine. I'm going to go through my house later today, taking pics of everything for insurance purposes. I'll email the pics for storage in my email account and hope I'll never need them. It won't take long to do this because I have a tiny, cottage-like house.

The Canon IXUS is the camera I kept the longest, getting on for twenty years.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Kat, tonight may be the night I set it up. Just got up from a three-hour nap that will destroy the chance of going to bed at a reasonable hour.
