Anyway I always thought robert pattinson looked a bit too... placid... to be a vampire, even though he was meant to be, he kind of has that dumbfounded look all the time when vampires are sharp intuitive creatures. Who do you think should have had the part?

I don't know if any of you have had this happen to them, but I sometimes see people in RL that are the spitting image of a character I build in my mind when reading a book. It also happens sometimes with people on tv... one of those was my mental picture of Edward in the (unknown) actor Luke Grimes

I agree. I don't think it's fair that author's have no say with the acting choices or whatever with the movies. If they think that the actor/actress doesn't look well for a part, they should be allowed to say it. Although Stephenie said that she loved Rob's acting in the movie and she was clearly surprised. But like some upcoming movies (The Mortal Instruments and The Hunger Games), the author's had no say, and it really isn't fair. Like in the Mortal Instruments, I really don't like Jamie Bower as Jace :( Cassandra said she's very happy about Lily Collins being Clary (and I like that too).

It may depend on the deal the author signed, or whether they wanted to speak up or not. I remember Ann Rice commenting on not wanting Cruise as Lestat but being happily surprised with the job he did.
