February is month number two. It is “leap” year so let’s do a little leaping with any form of forward momentum. Even with it’s extra day February is still the smallest month. February 2nd is Groundhogs Day; groundhogs are an odd little animal. The February flower is the violet and the stone is the amethyst which are both shades of purple. And last but not least February is most known for Valentine’s Day filled with all sorts of romantic things.

Leslie, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Or look over this months challenge.
It is the kind of game that is easier explained face to face. I keep adding to the rules each month as we work out kinks. I am not sure if those additions are helping or just adding to more confusion.
Anyway there are no silly questions so ask away as the questions come to you.

I normally stay home all day. But the Hubby is out of town today so I have his car. Yipppeee! Which means after the older kid goes to school I am taking my lil tyke out for a library play date. Don't worry I have Sesame Street set up on the DVR so I will have a letter of the day posted after we get home and have a chance to watch.

Good luck to all!

YAY! Welcome to my book club buddy!

Here's a sentence in a book:
"JUST the fact she had survived the past century proved that." Would that count toward forward momentum?

So if you found (The phonograph needle jumped.) it would be 1 point.
However, (Startled by the noise she jumped into Joe's arms. )would be two points because of J-forward momentum word and another J-word in the sentence.

Hey Leslie you can only use each "item" once. You have secondary character listed several times. I only counted 6 separate points. I might be wrong. Can you double check the count using each item once. (You can get more than one point per item, but only using one item reference)

Okay, now I'm confused. I'm so bad with directions! Does that mean I can only have 1 main character, 1 book that starts with a J, one author and so on? I promise, I am actually intelligent, just have this one issue- direction dyslexia!

You can change your answer, if you find a better one to get more points.
See my post. For Secondary character I had found a mother named "Justina", which gave me one point. However the book I read today one of the bad guys was John Johnston Jr. Since his name has 3 words that begin with "J" it is worth 3 points instead of the 1 point Justina was worth. So I removed the reference to Justina and put John Johnston Jr. in. That way I am only referencing one book at a time.

You can change your answer, if you find a better one to get more points.

Okay, I think I understand. I didn't get the part that you could only use each category one time. I will correct my entry. Thanks for explaining it- again!

A little Scattergories LOVE for you all!
The general rules of Scattergories are you are given a list of categories and a time limit. Then the letter dice is rolled and you have to come up with something that matches your letter and the category.
This “Challenge” works in conjunction with the other challenges you may participate in this month. You may use a book to fulfill multiple items (you don't have to read 12 books this month...don't worry!) While you are fulfilling the requirements of your other challenges, be on the lookout for the following items (they may be on the cover or mentioned in the book):
The Challenge: I will post a list of 12 categories, 6 general relating to any book, and 6 specific to that month. On the last day of the month before, I will post the letter of the month. You can start reading on the 1st. The goal is to get as many points as possible by the end of the month.
Duration: February 1st to February 29th
Rules
1.Any genre of books will work
2.Ebooks and audio count
3.You can read in any order
4.Rereads are ok but if you really reread the book
Points: You get one point for each category you can tie to a book, where the first letter begins with the letter of the month. You get double points for each time the letter of the month is used to begin a word (ex. for author if the letter was C, Cassandra Claire would be 2 points). We will not be deducting points for duplicate answers like the original game version does.
…..Note….. if you have already earned 1 point for an item and come across another item worth more points you can replace it. Please only list the one book you are currently using for points.
Special categories are open for interpretation. As long as it is mentioned in the book and you can justify how it fits, it will work.
When you find one of the items list the Book Title and Author (or link the cover), date it, and specify where the item is found within the book. (i.e. page number, e-reader location, audio chapter)
Just like the regular game we will not use the letters Q, U, V, X, Y and Z.
Let me know if you have any questions.
