C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) I'm odd about liking to experience work in order, series or not. Because my tastes in novels and music have always reached before my time, sampling albums or literature in order is like pretending I was around when they were published. Would I notice changes in the music or stories as time progressed?

Alana (alanasbooks) There is truth to that, of course. I'm reading Jane Austen's novels in published order this year for that very reason.

Alana (alanasbooks) Anybody interested in Persuasion starting next week or so? I just started Northanger Abbey but it's pretty short.

message 154: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 0 comments I just finished rereading Persuasion for the umpteenth time a couple of months ago for a book club. That said, I will happily follow your reactions as you experience it. Persuasion is actually one of my favorite Austens... Enjoy!

message 156: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanasbooks) I just read it last year, but I don't mind discussing it with you :)

message 157: by Alex (new)

Alex tizzard | 13 comments Sounds great - now I just need someone to encourage me to read it and keep reading it on a schedule.

Jennifer (gxeninjo) | 53 comments I'm up for Little Women, it's been dusty for a decade now. When do you want to start?

message 159: by Alex (new)

Alex tizzard | 13 comments Anytime :) I just finished my book so I'm ready to go whenever.

message 160: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (gxeninjo) | 53 comments How about July maybe? I have a lot to finish this month, and since the book starts at Christmas we could have a little Christmas in July. :)

Alex tizzard | 13 comments Sounds great!

message 162: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (gxeninjo) | 53 comments Cool, sounds like we have a plan then. :)

message 163: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanasbooks) I'm not going to make my dusty books goal this year, but I am determined to finally get to Cry, the Beloved Country next month. Anybody up for a January read with me?

message 164: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanasbooks) Anyone up for A Time to Kill for February? I'm reading it for another group and it will knock another VERY dusty book off the shelf.

message 165: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanasbooks) I just picked up In Cold Blood which has been sitting on my shelf FOREVER, if anyone is interested in going through that one with me. I got lucky enough to get it picked for two different in-person book groups :)

So any buddy read requests folks? I have a number of books lying around and would like to see if there's any book compatibility hanging around this group? ;)

I may make a list when I get home & post it up to let you lovely folks see what I've got :)
