Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments Sounds fabulous! I'll put it on my calendar! (:

message 52: by Dalynn (new)

Dalynn (dalynnrmc) I'm going to be reading Adventures of Sherlock Holmes next month for another group's group read, and I have quite a bit more Holmes and would LOVE to read all the novels. Whenever. ;)

April | 570 comments If/when you guys make it through Shiver and continue on to Linger and Forever...let me know! I read Shiver..and really liked it, but I have yet to read the next two! They may not be on my dusty shelf, but I'll throw them it to do a buddy read if you guys tackle them after Shiver!

As far as Poe goes...Since it's not on my dusty book shelf...whenever you guys say you're reading a particular story, I'll just tag along on those and discuss...Poe tends to be fun and easy for me(and I'ver already read most of them long ago...so re-reads are a bit easier!) so I can toss those in on the side!

message 54: by Adrianne (new)

Adrianne (montanaandi) | 11 comments I'm in! Just let me know which book you settle on..Poe was required reading for me in high school...

message 55: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments I've heard really great things about Shiver, April, so I'm excited to read it! I bought it at a Borders sale a LONG time ago and just never got around to reading it! I'd love to read the next two with you, since I'll probably get them after I read the first one. (:

Woo, Poe! March is when we'll start!

message 56: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Yay! I need some pressure to pull them out and read them! I really enjoyed Shiver...she had a fresh look at some things and it was FUN! I like her characters and it was a nice cute read! I think you'll like it...I've heard the next two get a bit more 'dark' for lack of a better word here...but I'm still interested. I want to read the rest of her stuff too! Someday, someday!...

Alrighty on Poe in March...just tell me which story/stories and we'll be off! (I'm having trouble that March is in 18 days, phew! 2 birthday parties/cakes to prepare for! )

message 57: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments March is only eighteen days away?! If I want to meet all my February reading challenges, I still have to read five books after Eragon! Whaaaaa. *power through*

We'll let you know which stories! (:

message 58: by April (new)

April | 570 comments You can do it Thalia!

message 59: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments I feel like a marathon runner! (:

Agata Weronika (aqueda_veronica) Argh, I would love to join you Poe fans, alas my copy of collection of short stories is currently in my hometown at my parent's place.
It would be really nice to do a "Grapes of wrath" or "East of Eden" read along. I don't think anyone mentioned Steinbeck here...

message 62: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 63 comments Grapes of Wrath or East of Eden would be right up my alley. Or something by Henry James.

message 63: by Agata Weronika (new)

Agata Weronika (aqueda_veronica) To be honest, Barbara, I'm not a fan of Henry James. I would much prefer Steinbeck. I know the Pulitzer Group is doing a group read of "Grapes of Wrath" in March so maybe let's start off with that? :) Anyone's invited!

message 64: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 63 comments I've never read Henry James but I've been meaning to for a long time. I read some Steinbeck way back in high school but not those two that you mentioned. I'm game to try just about anything. Grapes of Wrath has been on my list for a long time too.

message 65: by Kelly (new)

Kelly vasquez Barrett (crazy4reading) I am so in on Shiver but had no idea it was a series?

I'm in!

message 67: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments Kelly, Shiver is part of the Wolves of Mercy Falls series. (: I think there's only three books, though.

message 68: by Jess (new)

Jess (lochjessmonster) I have had Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame on my bookshelf for so many years... transferred between houses, across rooms, survived yard sales... It actually has collected quite a bit of dust. Thought I should read it... Any takers?

message 69: by Kelly (new)

Kelly vasquez Barrett (crazy4reading) Wolves and Poe can't wait to start Shiver just let me know when.

I've got East of Eden on my list! When would you want to read it? I'm open to read it in the summer. It's pretty long - I need lots of free time to read it :)

message 71: by Agata Weronika (new)

Agata Weronika (aqueda_veronica) @Jessica - summer seems like a good choice for me too for "East of Eden" :) We'll stay in touch!

@Barbara - I'm just heading to the library today to get my copy of "Grapes of wrath". So excited to get a headstart, haha ;)

message 72: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Yup...only three in Shiver's series..Shiver, Linger and Forever! :) I've read Shiver...so Thalia (and anyone else...)whenever you' make it to Linger...let me know...I'm in on a buddy read there! :)

How far along are you? This is on my dusty shelf... I have to return it to my gma-in-law who I'm going to visit the last week of March so I need to read it by then! Plus I have been holding out to watch the movie.

Sounds great! I reserved a cope of Grapes of Wrath from the library and will probably have it by next week, if not sooner. Looks like a pretty big book. Time to put some of the fluff aside. :)

Diane A | 2 comments Barbara wrote: "Grapes of Wrath or East of Eden would be right up my alley. Or something by Henry James."

I will join this buddy read too. It's been a long time since I read anything by Steinbeck.

message 77: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 63 comments LOL I took a look at my dusty shelves and discovered Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden in there! I completely forgot I had them! (shakes head)

April Lyn (aprilallyear) Barbara wrote: "LOL I took a look at my dusty shelves and discovered Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden in there! I completely forgot I had them! (shakes head)"

haha! that's how you know it's an authentic dusty shelf! i'm the same way. i often buy copies of books i already have and then I'm *forced* to list them on paperbackswap.com to get even more books!! muwahaha. it's an evil cycle.

message 79: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 63 comments Ah, but what a good cycle. Can one really have too many books?? Not in my humble opinion. (Just don't ask for my husband's opinion-he's the one that had to heave all the book boxes when we moved!)

message 80: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments Would sometime in March work for Shiver? I'm reading it in a monthly challenge sometime during the month, so I'm throwing it out there. (:

message 81: by Kelly (new)

Kelly vasquez Barrett (crazy4reading) Thaila I can't wait to read Shiver in March! Do you have the other 2 books?

message 82: by Eric (new)

Eric | 12 comments East Of Eden and Grapes of Rath are two that I have always meant to read. I may have them somewhere! Let me know when you start reading to advise if they are worth pursuing a massive book hunt here!

message 83: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 38 comments @April: You mentioned Emma and that's a Dusty book of mine. Want to buddy up for it in April during Jane Austen month?

message 84: by Agata Weronika (new)

Agata Weronika (aqueda_veronica) @Barbara - congratulations, so now you can start reading :)
@Erick - I just started tonight, so it's probably a bit early to pass judgment. Feel free to join me.

I'll also post a link to the discussion in the Pulitzer group.

I will hunt down those books now. They must be good. I have heard more about the authors life than I have about his works. 3/1 works for me as that is my B'Day!

Anytime, just say the word. I just finished my two book club reads so anything goes now. Loved Handmaids tale by the way... We had an amazing group discussion last night. I keep talking to my husband about it too! Initially I gave it a three star rating, but I'm going to go back and change it because I just can't stop thinking and wondering about it... And I think that's what makes a book great!
