message 305: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Angela, but is it that you can only choose one for the 25 points? And not three times 25 points?

message 310: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

message 318: by Alice (new)

Alice (aliceg) | 254 comments i've become addicted just cos i want points! it's not even like there's a prize of a ferrari or a porsche or anything!!! my boyfriend has told me i'm not to go all addicted on him and i said it was too late for that! all i want to do is finish my book so i can start another one and get more points. i only started the challenge last night and i'm feeling left behind. i've realised also that a lot of the books i've picked are quite long. i'm thinking maybe i should pick a mills and boon instead of mansfield park for the love story/romance one!!!!

message 326: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) Oops! sorry...

Hmm... I'm not v. good at suggestions but see if any of the following interests you

F - it should be easy to find a French book? You could try the Three Musketeers or Count of Monte Cristo. I've also heard one called Suite Francaise by Irene Nimerovsky (something I'd be interested to read one day)

C - maybe Chile; one of Isabel Allende's books? Have you read Daughter of Fortune? that one also has a section set in China so that's 2 Cs! or another China one - Mao's Last Dancer which is a memoir of a Chinese male ballet dancer.

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) | 1826 comments 51 POSTS IN ONE DAY!!!

I was at work so I had a lot to come back to...can't imagine what this is going to look like when I come back after 3 days!!!

Anyway I think most of the questions that were asked have been answered but I'll re-iterate...

Each person can do any and all of the tasks (I put the names in there for the 25 point tasks only to signify who had made the suggestion) - there is a total of 375 to be earned if every task is completed.

Blood does count as a body part.

Each book only counts for one category so the most you can earn for one book is 25 points.

Jen - feel free to use Double Bind for the mental illness category.

message 346: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) What book u readin Sera?

I will be up to 15pts when I finish reading Harvesting the Heart - Jodi Picoult (her second novel)

message 347: by Fenixbird (new)

Fenixbird SandS | 403 comments Stephanie, I have not yet read A Clockwork Orange but I would not recommend the movie starring Malcolm McDowell. It deals with gang rape, but also brainwashing as reform.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments Jen..how was Holidays on Ice? That ones on my list too! :)

message 349: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) Jamie, I thought a few of the stories were really funny - especially "The SantaLand Diaries." There were a couple in there, though, where the humor was a lot darker than I expected - I just didn't quite get it. I enjoyed it, though...sort of a sarcastic take on the holidays. Have you read any of his other books? This was my first of his, but I think I might have to try the others.

message 350: by Sera (last edited Dec 05, 2008 12:44PM) (new)

Sera Fiona, I'm reading the Higgins Clark book - Dashing Through The Snow. I haven't read much, but the story seems interesting. The writing, however, is so unsophisticated. It has opened my eyes as what a huge difference there is writing between plain old fiction and literary fiction and how spoiled I've been over the years. I usually don't read these types of books so it's nice to have a different experience.
