9. Read A Book With December, January, Or February In The Title.
I am working on finishing a bunch of the books I have started today. Just finished and enjoyed: January 1905 by Katharine Boling

Thanks Cynthia. What about the book that I had taken for five points about the stories during Christmas in kerry, Ireland and written by an Irish author? My new year's resolution is to explore Ireland adn those stories take all place in kerry, ireland a region I really want to visit as all the pictures I see and think are beautiful are like at least 90% from kerry. Would the book count?
Another question, would the first Outlander book count as a romance novel?

New Total 345 pnts

Current Tasks: (worth 65 pts)
*I'm now reading Sticky Fingers (body part) by Niki Burnham.
*I've got 1.5 discs left (of 9) on Pompeii: A Novel by Robert Harris, which I'm REALLY enjoying. I hate getting out of the car now! (This is my same-profession book. Marcus Atillius maintains aqueducts. I design waterlines that need replacement. We both love water.)
*I am finally making steady-ish progress on Northanger Abbey (book I never finished). I downloaded the audiobook yesterday and listened to 4 or 5 chapters while I cleaned my office, which looked like a tornado had gone through it...
*I'm listening to Sense and Sensibility (best adapted screenplay in 1995) at home, while I clean and cross-stitch. I got through almost 2 discs (of 10) yesterday!
Upcoming Tasks: (worth 50 pts)
* Breaking Dawn (700+ pages)
* The Last Jihad (political fiction)
* Ever (random TBR book)
* Where Dreams Begin (5 W's + H), if it ever comes in through interlibrary loan. If it gets down to crunch time, I'll re-read What My Mother Doesn't Know , which is one of my favorites, and a pretty quick read, as it's written entirely in poetry (read: lots of white space). It's a great book.

read a historical fiction featuring a historic personality or a biography of a historical figure:
The Whiskey Rebels, by David Liss.
The most well-known prominent figure in the book was Alexander Hamilton, but many others were mentioned as well, including Washington, Burr, and a few other men history has "forgotten" that were involved with the government during the early days of the Union, during the Federalist period.

I'm sad now, though, because I don't have another audiobook to listen to. (Well, one that I actually have the discs to, anyway...) I'll need to put Sense & Sensibility on my Zune so I can listen to it in the car or something. I'm going to go by my local book/movie/video game/etc. purchase/rental store (Hastings Entertainment) later today and see if they have any of my remaining books available as audiobooks to rent. I think you get to keep them for a week.
I might change my "5 W's + H" book to Where the Red Fern Grows . I've never read it, which is pretty sad for me. I've heard it's really good.

Sara, it does say everything about the book, doesn't it. i mean awsome really says how it is!

I couldn't STAND December... wish I could have saved you the trouble! :)

It was a mildly enjoyable read. It's not very long & sort of feels like a cross between a non-fiction history book & and the movie Dangerous Liaisons (that book is on my tbr list, but I haven't read it yet). The history bookishness comes from the point of view (3rd person) & a factual listing of each character & their place in society. The scheming and the maneuvering & the importance placed on the appearance of a good reputation reminded me of Dangerous Liaisons.
For me, It helped that early on, I decided to not try to keep track of all the peripheral characters & how they related to the various court factions. For you, it might be an easier & more entertaining read.

Cynthia - Practical question: How much leeway will you allow for those of us who don't live in America ?
(Over here, in the UK, it's just Black History Month.)

This is why I love this challenge. I never would have found this book on my own, but read Eva's post quite a while ago and decided to give it a try. I highly recommend this book--hard to read because it is the story of war with a nine year old boy as the protagonist, but well worth it. I went through it very quickly because I read every spare minute I could find.
I'm now at 170 points

I haven't chosen one yet ! I'm looking through the categories I have left, trying to line up books to read next that will fit.
So, are we talking African, Carribean, Asian, Middle Eastern are allowed ? Just want to know what I'm looking for !
