Can someone answer this for me? I didn't realize Jo Nesbo's book The Snowman is part of a series featuring character Harry Hole. My question: do I have to read this series in order or can the books stand alone? Seems The Snowman has burst onto the scene all of a sudden, and that makes me think it can stand alone.

I haven't read it myself but both my mum and nan have and they said it stands alone as well (in fact my mum didn't even realise it was part of a series until my nan mentioned it, so it must stand alone rather well). Hope this helps a little :-)
Vicky, I just finished it and it was the first I've read by him. I didn't realise it was a series either and didn't feel like I was missing background info.
