K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I noticed this morning that Amazon put 'Let's Do Lunch' on sale for $2.99.

Did they that do that with anyone else?

I'm not complaining - just wanted to know if anyone else noticed a change.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments I haven't noticed anything with my books, but I've heard of them doing that with others' titles. Enjoy it. You still get the royalty based on your list price.

message 3: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I thought it was very nice of them. :-)

I wish they'd do the same with 'Swallow the Moon' which has stalled, but hey, a sale is a sale.

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Kat, you are in very elevated company. Well done!

message 5: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I noticed on Kindleboards - someone else found their e-book was still on Sony - but they haven't heard Amazon complain yet.

I'm afraid to look - but I should.

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Might be better to be able to say, but Officer, I did not know! Although my curiousity would get the best of me, I am sure, **grin**

message 7: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments You sure you don't have your book elsewhere at the lower price, and Amazon is just doing price-matching?

message 8: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments could be - I'm afraid to look.

message 9: by S.M. (new)

S.M. Johnson (smjohnsonwrites) LOL - I unpublished Out of the Dungeon at Smashwords, but I never actually LOOKED at the distribution catalog sites (iTunes, Nook, etc) to see if THEY unpublished. I figured I did my part before KDP enrollment, right?

I've only had 1 borrow - so I don't think I'll re-enroll anything in KDP. However - the "sale" (free) days have been pretty amazing. Last night I had 19 sales of Out of the Dungeon for the month (still better than 0), but not even 24 hours later it's up to 256. I've only promoted it on FB and Twitter. So - while I'm not happy to be exclusive to Kindle, the exposure really is pretty amazing.

message 10: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments When I checked, there was one site that hadn't taken down my book even though I'd removed it from the Smashwords catalog ages ago. I notified them and they took care of it immediately. I think the site was called Diesel Books.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments It is amazing what a few free days will do for a book. Getting them into the Amazon 'also bought' pairings is wonderful.

Being paired off with the vampire sweeties made me a bestseller.

message 13: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments You are paired with vampires?

Hmmm...curiouser and curiouser.

Not voluntarily, I assure you!

message 15: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Ah, but if it sells books... Nah, not even then...
My pairings are all over the map, must have been the timing of my free days on Select.

I did it for the money.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Anything to sell books!

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments Perhaps 'lunch' is doing really well and they want to boost the sales? Mine went nuts after I did the free book and kept everything at $2.99. Seems to be a sweet spot. They may see that it has legs and are trying to push it. You can change it back. I'm assuming it was higher before?

message 20: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments It's $3.25 but it was $3.99 for awhile.

For some odd reason it seems to sell well at $3.25. Sony always rounds up to the nearest .99.

message 21: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments Everyone is looking for a bargain. This is exactly what happened in the music industry. That is weird about Sony. I didn't know.

Andre Jute (andrejute) | 4851 comments Mod
Apple also insist you price at 99c. There is a whole branch of interdisciplinary studies where motivational psychology meets pplied microeconomics called Threshold Pricing. The principle is that people perversely see $2.99 as more related to $2 than $3, but £3.00 as over the threshold of perception.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Hmmm...marketing is a strange science.

message 24: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Couldn't put it better myself...

message 25: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments $2.99 is also considered the threshold for impulse buying, though I don't know if that applies to ebooks. In stores, it applies. You wander through the store, see something for $2.99 that appeals to you, and at that price or below you don't have to mull it over. Into the cart it goes.

message 26: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments It is certainly holding true for me. I love impulse buys :)

message 27: by Dakota (new)

Dakota Franklin (dakotafranklin) | 306 comments I live in Switzerland. Here a cheap impulse buy is 19.95...

message 28: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments ERF - I guess my dream trip to Europe is going to have to wait.

message 29: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments Dakota, Switzerland. How neat. But you're right about cost. Europe is a stunner when you get there and realize how much things cost. We're headed to Albania to see my son in the Peace Corps. That is inexpensive but we go through Istanbul. That's a little pricey. Still, two years without seeing my kid - as they say "Priceless"

message 30: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Rebecca, enjoy your time with your son. Two years is indeed a long time...

message 31: by Dakota (new)

Dakota Franklin (dakotafranklin) | 306 comments The other day as a meeting broke up I overheard a woman say that she can't wait to get her child out of the house. I wondered why she had a child in the first place.

I love spending time with mine, and wish I could find more. We always have a good time together.

message 32: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments Dakota, That's amazing. Mine are older and I love that they come home as much as they can. That woman doesn't know what she'll be missing. One of my kids is in Albania with the Peace Corps and thank goodness for Skype. Thanks Sharon for the good wishes. We are going to make the best of the week we have with him. Cannot wait!

message 33: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Dakota, there is never enough time with our kids, but having a good time together means much more than time spent.

Rebecca, you must be so excited! With my dd2 and only granchildren half-way round the world, I cram in as much quality time with them as I can. Two more days here in Ozz and there will be mega tears at our parting...

message 34: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Some people were made to be parents. Others weren't. I'm in the latter group.

message 35: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments I thought I was in the later group then I had kids and now I'm in the former group. Who knew. Dakota, so sorry for the parting. Never easy. I've fielded calls all day because Albanian weather has turned so awful. No electricity, no heat. Tough for a California guy. My older don is here to night and my grad-dog is also here so all is right with the world except for Albania. Patricia, my two best buddies were in the latter group so I share my boys with them now that the boys are men and not children :)

message 36: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments I have a daughter, but it's a wonder she made it to adulthood with an obstacle like me in the way. I really wasn't cut out for the mom job at all. My mom was the same way. She was fine with grownups, just as I am, but kids? Eeek!

message 37: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 55 comments Patricia, I have a feeling she doesn't feel the same way :)

message 38: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I was once told I was 'born to be a mother' - by the social worker who assessed us for our second adoption. Ironic then, that I could only have one via the normal route, but I wouldn't have it any other way now.

My eldest heads off to university in the city in two weeks. It's not so far away that he can't come home for weekends if he wants to, but I'm still looking forward to it about as much as having teeth pulled.

It's just as well that my wife is a good parent as I'm not... As I said to someone who congratulated me on my son's wonderful manners, "It's not hard being a superior parent. Just marry the right woman and let her get on with it."

Of course, looking around at the broken marriages and families, the trick is finding the right woman...

Katie, you were clearly born to be a mother to the adopted children too...

I don't know, Sharon. That sort of implies that their birthmothers weren't, when they really might have been, had circumstances been different.

message 42: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Oh, for sure Katie, but whatever the circumstances your kiddies needed a mother and they found you...
