Nina did you like this

Elia One of my all-time favorite books! I read it a bunch of times as a child, though I haven't read it in a few years now. Very moving and beautiful story.

message 3: by Abby (new) - added it

Abby I did like it. Read it in I think 6th grade, and still have my copy of it.

Rachel Seigel I read it in sixth grade as well, and remember absolutely loving it. At the time, I never knew that there was a sequel, but the element of surviving and carving out a life for yourself on a lonely island fascinated me.

Kirby loved it!

Nina There's a sequel???!!!

Kirby yeah, someone on here just recently told me about it, so I'm excited to read it, too!

message 10: by Nina (new) - added it

Nina no i actually haven't. i don't even know of any other books by him.

message 11: by Lynn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynn Mitchell I remember how much I adored this book when I read it in sixth grade. I got to watch my daughter's face light up with the same kind of adoration when I read it to her when she was around the same age.

April I love this book- if you enjoyed Shabanu, Julie Of The Wolves, Sole Survivor, or Hatchet, you'd probably like it.

Sharell I liked this book. It has the rare distinction of being one of the few books out there with an adventerous, self sufficient, female protagonist.

Ashley I absolutely loved this book and the sequel. I read them tons when I was a young girl. I am tempted to pick it up again to see if I would still enjoy it as much.

Kathleen I loved all Scott O'dell books when I was a kid and still have all of them. I read them when I was in Middle school. Island of the Blue Dolphins was my favorite, but he has Historical Fiction books dealing with many topics from Pocahontas to translating the bible to English, to the Revolutionary War.

Julia Dezotell I don't remember, I read it when I was really young like 5 maybe.

Kristen Hill I guess I'm in the minority because I read this book back in sixth grade and I really didn't like it.

Aneesa OMG... There's a sequel?!!!!!!!!!
Looking at the link right now....

Emma Boxx I did like, it was interesting and fresh.

message 20: by Zoe (new) - rated it 2 stars

Zoe This book made me cry, it was really sad and scared me, i was in 4th grade and our class was reading it. It made me afraid that i would loose my brother. I didn't like it at all

Tyler I felt that same way when our class read it in 4th grade. Butit is still one of my favorite books all time

Grace C. i liked it, its one of my favorites.

Hannah No, This is probably the worst book i've read so far. (and i read ALOTT!!!)

Danielle I loved this book, read it in grade school!

Yeti I read this book back in grade 4 and I really enjoyed it. It's been a really long time though.

Aishavadia i loved it!soooooo emotional,i had to cry,great book

Aishavadia i read it last year when i was in grade 4

Edina It is a really memorable book. At the time, I wasn't sure why we harped on the story so much but it was really good, looking back on it.

Teri Nina wrote: "no i actually haven't. i don't even know of any other books by him."

The Black Pearl is an excellent book by Scott O'Dell. Sing Down the Moon is supposed to be good, too, but I've never read the whole thing.

message 31: by Teri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Teri I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins! I read it to my fourth grade class a few years ago, and they were mesmerized!

Grace AWESOME!!!!!!!

I think I'll read Hatchet, I loved this book when I was younger. But I hated Julie of the Wolves.

O.O

message 38: by Sosa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sosa LOVED IT!

message 39: by Leah (new) - rated it 2 stars

Leah No way! It was a read-aloud in fourth grade and I thought it was awful.

Jenny it was good

Aaron Carson I liked it for the atmosphere and writing style, but I was very disturbed, and kind of angry, about the fact that her little brother was killed and eaten by feral dogs, and then she befriended one of the dogs. It bothered me.

Jules Brugel Scott O'Dell wrote great children books, I enjoy his works. Island of the Blue Dolphins is quite good, but so sad (the true life story behind it is also very sad).

Cherie This is a beautiful book. I never read it as a child, but my mom did and it was one of her favorites. She actually recommended it to me to read as an adult. I really enjoyed it.

Isabella I really liked it! Read it when I was 7 and again when I was 10!

Brittany My English teach in 3rd grade has us read this book. Then she moved to teaching the 6th grade and when I got there we read it again. I was so happy because I love this book!!!!

Katlyn It was awesome! on my recommending list!

♪♫Gloria♫♪ omfg! It is an amazing book, a Must-Read!
