Ella Huang What was wrong with the covers!!!!!!! OMG, the covers are the worst ones I have ever seen in my life!
A simple name of the author and a simple title. And a picture of a single "dargon"... Okay.. cool?
I don't know, a lot of my friends said the covers are just to simple and the backgrounds...[x,x////] with just one simple colour..... I did not mean anything that the ideas are not right...but there are things call photoshop and computers. Even my 6-year-old brother can make a cover like this.

lol! I feel bad now bc the cover of this book is what made me buy it. I had read the 2nd book first then had to go back and read the 1st one.

Katie Sometimes simple is nice. I really didn't like these books, but I actually do like the covers a lot. Simple covers are memorable and the bold, bright colors are eye-catching. These covers are actually excellent graphic designs.

MizziQ I love all the covers.

Molly Kluck I love the dragon details :) The colors are very deep and rich, and honestly I very rarely like covers that have a lot going on.

Sandra I totally love the covers of this series! The design is simple and eye-catching. When I first bought Eragon the bookstore only had the edition with the characters from the movie on it, so I bought the one with the blue dragon on later, just because I thought it looked better in my bookcase ;)

Allie Molly wrote: "I love the dragon details :) The colors are very deep and rich, and honestly I very rarely like covers that have a lot going on."

yeahhhhhh

Sofia I don't think the covers are bad.

Tina I think the through covers they gave us a hint about next dragon that appears.

Valerie I loved the covers. They were cool and done well. It's hard to draw dragons. Even I can't draw them

Kasey Some times simplicity is a good thing.

Becky I like the cover, simplicity is always best. Most of my favourite book covers are simple block colours with a single picture in the middle. It helps the book speak for itself

Jacob Aldrich Your six year old brother is a prodigy!!!!

Ziyue I lov these covers! Who cares if they're not all complicated and such? I used to draw the dragons on the covers for fun. Sometimes simple things r nice instead of complicated things.

Sarah Briggs I agree with Tina. And Valerie, I also agree that dragons ARE hard to draw. :) major props in my book :)

Uditi I agree with you as well, but the dragon on the cover of eldest really looks hideous.

Marshall I liked the covers because I got to know what all the dragons looked like. Although, I was kind of disapointed that I did not see Sruikan. That's not how you spell it, but I was too lazy to look it up.:P

Sab The covers are nice. They don't reveal what's gonna happen in the book. Except for the dragon... Though one could think that there was a dragon there just to make it nice and it had nothing to do with the book. I love all the covers especially Eldest's cover. I put it as my picture! I like Thorn.

Sarah Briggs Uditi wrote: "I agree with you as well, but the dragon on the cover of eldest really looks hideous."

I think they were just trying to show Thorn's hard callousness from growing up so ridiculously fast, and under the foot of Galbatorix. You know? Even Murtagh is rougher and more mean than he was before.

T My two cents: The covers ROCK!

Helen Stevens I think the book covers are very striking. Cover art is what draws the eye to books a reader might not have otherwise picked up and a complicated cover might not have the same effect. The beautiful portrait of Saphira on the first book was enough to make me pick it up and read the back, and that in turn lead to it becoming one of my favourite book series'!

message 24: by Sparrowlicious (new)

Sparrowlicious My opinion about the covers is simply that there are much better dragon designs. Seriously, put in deviantart and search for dragons. You'll get so many good designs. Dragons with tentacles and weird horse snouts? Ugh. Butt ugly.

Andria I like covers that aren't too busy. The dragons are interesting looking. I wish that the books after the first one had been better, particularly the last one.

BookDeliria (Dia) i like the covers. Actually it isnt the typical dragonrider cover? you know, the guy riding a dragon. I dont like covers that have real models in them. But anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I like the covers, its a factor why i want to collect them. :))

Chloe Well...sometimes simplicity is a good thing. I think the cover shows the main idea of the book. I mean, the Inheritance cycle is a complicated book, I can't imagine a cover that could replace them.

BookDeliria (Dia) Uditi wrote: "I agree with you as well, but the dragon on the cover of eldest really looks hideous."

hahaha now that you mentioned it, he does look hideous.

Well dragons aren't supposed to be cute. Lol

Drew In my opinion, I think that book covers without much going on and without people are better.

Arfaa I love the covers and i agree simple is BEST!!!:D

Wendell I don't have any issues with the covers of these books... maybe because I only see the spines, they have been sitting on my shelf for 5 years. I still have not finished reading the whole series. To be honest though I think the content between the covers is more important than the cover. Well for me it is. Maybe because I have been sucked in by some good cover art and the story was just... something else entirely.

I love the covers of the Inheritance Cycle. Simple are my favourite covers, and at first glance you see a really simple cover, but when you look closely you see all the detail. I far prefer hand-drawn covers to computer-designed covers. Your six year old brother is a prodigy if he can draw like this.

Chloe Fandom Queen They are okay. To be honest, I like simple covers but I also like covers that have a lot going on. Sometimes, I honestly can't choose.

But, the thing with these is that yes, they have a dragon on them but, don't you think the dragons look ugly?
I mean, I know they aren't supposed to look pretty and smiley. But, if you want someone to take interest in your book, you have to have a nice cover that draws you in.

message 35: by Cat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cat I actually really like the covers. I've always thought the way they wrote the name of the book was in an amazing font. I don't think they need to jazz it up much because despite the simple layout, that picture of the dragon is not simple at all. Every one of those dragons was drawn, and I think they look amazing. Dragon's are also a huge part of the story, they are also the only one of Paolini's races that are rare. In the book their are armies of Urgals, elves, dwarves even werecats. There are many of each of those races but only four dragons- well at least four dragons still alive. So why not devote the cover to them.

Does that make sense, I feel like I got of topic...

Jonathan I find that the Covers for the inheritance Cycle are simple, and through their simplicity are humble and attractive to the person looking for a good read, they are no way the worst or most boring book covers.

Jacob Aldrich I've always loved the covers. When I was part of the target audience and my uncle got me the book as a gift, I would sit and look at the cover for a long time. The style of art and the texture of the book made it feel incredible as I held it. Maybe this is just nostalgia talking, but the book covers for this series definitely did the trick for me.

message 38: by S.A. (new) - rated it 2 stars

S.A. Thorup The covers are well done art pieces, but the dragons are so ugly. Aren't they described as really beautiful in the series?

message 39: by Ruth (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruth The simple cover was nice.

message 40: by Christi (new)

Christi I like the cover. As long as it doesn't have a picture of a human being on the front and as long as it's not trashy, I don't really care what covers look like.
