I just read a memoir about Curtis Roosevelt (grandson to FDR). My husband's name is Kurt -- can I use this for my Oh Romeo task.
It's easier to find a book about a president than to find one with a characater named Kurt :-D

It should work since Doc is a historical figure as is Wyatt Earp and it ends with the shootout at the OK corral which I believe is a historical event. What do you think Jackie?

20.1 – Free At Last! In honor of African American History Month read a HF book that features slavery
I can't say since from reading the reviews I don't see anything mentioned, but it would definitely work for 15.1, which is about a historical person or event.

Thought that was the one she asked about. You are right there is no slavery in the book, my mistake.

I am reading it for another group and trying to find a fit for this challenge.

After reading the first few pages, it only touches on the Civil War so I guess it won't work....but it does for task 100...a nominee...thanks all!

I've had that on my tbr too! There are a lot of books about slavery world wide, so would that count or is it to be kept within American slavery?
Hmm... I can see why you'd think of it that way, but I don't think that really counts as slavery the way the challenge task meant it. That wasn't the reason that Jews were rounded up, but they were put to work after they had been.
My personal opinion would be to say no, that it wouldn't count for the slavery task because the original reason for rounding up Jews was not to make slaves of them, but to exterminate them.
I'll let Jackie have the final say though, because this is her challenge.

As long as the most popular edition on GR meets the 200 page limit, yes.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider the Holocaust slavery. To me it was genocide.

Yes, as long as it meets the page requirements.

I haven't read it, but from what I've heard of it the book works.
Would Kindred by Octavia E. Butler be considered HF? Would A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain be considered HF?

Kindred seems like it can count since she's going back to slave times. A CT Yankee in KA's court wouldn't be considered HF.

Yeah, that would definitely work.

Thanks......

If so I was planning on using it for a green cover

Nick, Tim, Brian, John, Bob, Harry, Keith, Jason, Adam

I would say no because it was published in 1876, but the story takes place in 1840's making it about a 36 year diffence instead of the required 50.

oops forgot to check the year, makes sense.
Ok how about this one A Voice in the Wind?
I want to get an audio for this task (plus be from by tbr pile too) since I have the others covered. Always try to have an audio on the go, especially now with spring arriving :)
