@Sara: aw man I've always wanted to stay at the Waldorf-Astoria :sigh: But yeah. My hotel was about, hnn .9 miles away from Javits, but by the time the shuttle got us to the right street it was a twenty to 30 minute drive

Rebecca | 21 comments The hotel I am staying at Monday night is .7 miles. Not sure whether to walk Tuesday morning or take a cab. I am driving in the other days I think but wanted to be there early on Tuesday.

The hotel I'm staying in isn't affiliated with BEA, so we're taking a cab the mornings and in the afternoon I found a shuttle that will drop us off a block or so from the hotel.

Shanese La'Tia (bo0kjunki3) | 37 comments I'm not even staying in the same borough. But I live in NYC so it makes sense to travel into the city from home.

We're staying about the same as you Rebecca, but we'll be walking in the morning (its a good way to wake yourself up!) and not sure coming back (I have to see where the Shuttles let off in relation to where our hotel is...I dislike and distrust cabs from a past experience)

I've never taken a cab, but every day's an adventure, right? Only live once. LOL And I always wanted to take a NYC cab, and I won't be by myself, so it's all good.

I took a cab sometimes last year, and I felt safe even though I travelled alone. I was a bit apprehensive about going to NY in the first place, coming from a tiny country NY seemed big, scary and I was unsure how safe it was there. But I felt safe the whole time, but I did not dare take the subway *s*

Sara Marks even if you are not staying at a hotel of a BEA affiliated you can still take the shuttle. If you can get to a stop they will take you as long as you are going to Javits. When I stayed on couches I often took the subway to time square and grabbed a shuttle from one of those hotels. Don't waste money on cabs if you can avoid it.

I figure I'll take a cab in the morning since shuttles don't run until 7. But in the afternoon I already mapped out a shuttle route that's near my hotel.

No way am I walking 2 miles back to my hotel after being on my feet for 8 or 9 hours.

@Hannah - think of what a great work out it is! XD you won't have to work out for the rest of the year! (joking joking I wouldn't walk that much either, especially w/books)
