Introductions - tell us a little about yourself

But yes, my shelves are double and even in some cases triple loaded. :)

Most e-books eventually come out in paper, it's just faster to get it out there in e-book. But those are all things I never knew. Anyway, I love books, and having bookshelves that are full, and hanging out in libraries. I don't imagine that will go away, but I'm sure things will change.
I've downloaded so many ebooks that I want to read. It's going to take me a while to get to them all.

I love audio books. I got hooked on them when I had a 1 hour each way commute and now I listen while I walk, do chores, or play jewel quest or something mindless like that. I listened to all the Ice and Fire books on audio. I love the narrator's voice.

My name is Cliff and I am from Texas. I am a student studying graphic design and creative writing, and I have an insatiable appetite for fantasy. Just finished The Blinding Knife today and now moving on to another book.

No Way! That book was a blast to read, a movie would be awesome!

My name is Jordan and I'm from South Carolina. I recently joined the USAF so I regret to say that in the following months I won't be able to keep up with the groups readings and topics. I d..."
Thanks for your willingness to serve! I like GRRM but I had a difficult time with Jordan but strangely, i don't frequently read series.

My name is Nadine and I'm from Vienna, Austria. I stumbed upon your group and noticed you guys are reading a lot of interesting books so I joined. Like a good girl I've read the group rules before posting. :)
Fantasy is my home genre, if you like. Whenever I stray into other kinds of fiction, I keep coming back to good old fantasy. My favorite authors are Robin Hobb, George R.R. Martin, Scott Lynch and - fantasy unrelated - Chuck Palahniuk. Plus a whole bunch more.
This year, I've had a bunch of new author crushes such as Cat Valente, N.K. Jemisin and Guy Gavriel Kay. I look forward to reading and discovering more great books with you.
Hi, my name is Trent and I'm from Florida. I've been an avid reader of Fantasy books all my life, from Dragon lance to Xanth, to the Incarnations of Immortality series and so on.
I joined this group because the past reads shelf looked really interesting, and I'm looking forward to current and future reads here.
My most recent favorites have been - The Hollows/Rachel Morgan series by Kiim Harrison, the God Killers by David Simpson, and Eyes of the Watchers.
I know the group has read these already but my to read shelf includes Prince of Thorns, and Furies of Calderon.

Growing up I liked Harry Potter, and Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality. Warhammer 40k was some of my favorite SF when I was younger too. The Dan Abnett stuff. I'm one of those guys who considers sci-fi a branch of fantasy.
Of late I've been reading all the fantasy I can get my hands on, from The Dying Earth to The Iron Druid, and everything in between, and can't get enough. Keeps me from watching the news :)
I like to collect first editions and chat fantasy lit, always looking for a good book to read. Thanks for having me in the group, I look forward to being a member.

Welcome Gary....or Todd??????

Other than family members....I get that glazed eye look, when I say anything about science fiction or fantasy.
I had almost given up talking to anyone about this genre.

I hope to get a wee bit of enjoyment from discussing fantasy with like minded peoples.
I am from Australia, grew up in the West, moved to the little island they call Tassie and now I'm all set to move to New Zealand( Land of the hobbit )
Studying horticulture and plants at the moment but reading fantasy books and playing fantasy games keep distracting me . Now I will have just a little bit more distraction :)
I am easily pleased when it comes to books. I generally like most, love epic story lines, love good characterization, like something new but the old cliche doesn't bother me either.
looking forward to joining in on discussions .
:) Cheers

I understand that Wheel of Time dragged a bit in the middle, but it's still my favorite series (though even I skip some of the sections when I reread).
I'm absolutely loving the Kingkiller Chronicles.
Beyond those, I've certainly enjoyed a lot of fantasy books, but there aren't any more I would call out as "favorites." I've read just about every series listed in any top fantasy series list.
For those people who are reading this eyes askance because I like WoT, you'll really hate this: I actually enjoyed Twilight. I found it a fun, easy to read series. I wouldn't put it in any kind of category of great literature, but I do like it.
I look forward to meeting y'all.
Thanks!

I'm a lifelong reader of books. While I gravitate toward science fiction and fantasy, I remember starting with the Black Stallion series, the Hardy Boys, Brains Benton, The Power Boys, the Troy Nesbitt series (Ah the old days when you could buy a Whitman hardback for $0.99 at the grocery store.)
I currently have a degree in Medieval History and am working on my Masters in English. I spent 15+ years in the military and currently work as a tech writer/editor.
I also do some writing on the side. However, to confirm to the group standards, I'll say, if you're interested, I do have an author page and leave it at that.
I'm currently reading "Control Point" by Myke Cole (who I used to trade blows with a wooden sword with *grin*), and have a to-be-read pile the size of my arm. Also reading "Not Without Laughter" by Langston Hughes for my current class in Multicultural Literature at Bowie State.
This looks like a great group and I hope to contribute more in the future.

Trouble with being a writer is trying to balance time to read with time to write (and see the family and clean the house and . . . )

Other than my obsession (there really is no other word for it) with books, I partake in photography, photo editing, and am working on a PhD in Functional Genomics.
It's nice to meet everyone!

Now I'm older and more patient, I've been giving the fantasy genre another try. I like what I've read so far. Namely, The Witch's Daughter, The Fallen Blade, and Black Ships.
I've always been a sucker for historical fiction. There's actually a great deal of crossover between the fantasy and HF genres.

I'm so happy that I found this group. Though I've been a member of Good Reads for some time, I've never really been active on the site. I suppose that I never really saw beyond the book lists that people post.
I'm a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan. My favorite authors include:
Brandon Sanderson (I've read everything of his, save for Warbreaker and Legion.)
Tolkien (Does this even need mentioning?)
Robin Hobb
Roger Zelazny (I've only read Lord of Light, but it was amazing!)
Frank Herbert
I look forward to meeting you all! Though it's almost November 30, I may just run out to Barnes and Noble to pick up one of this month's picks. :-D

If anyone wants to add me as a friend please feel free to do so.
Alan

I'm still stumbling my way around Goodreads and this looks like a fun group. I love fantasy, sci-fi , the paranormal as well as some great historical fiction. I'm just now wading into horror and am surprised at how fascinated I am with the ZA novels. Zombies don't interest me, but the 'people stories' draw me in.
I enjoy George RR Martin, Diana Gabaldon, Kim Harrison. Neil Gaiman and many others.
I look forward to getting to know you all and discovering some new series to read.
